"An Uber driver recommended this place to my wife. We were visiting the Museum of Mexican Folk Art (recommended to see) and this restaurant was right behind it. We were eating a late lunch/dinner and were surprised with both the quality of the food and the reasonable prices. Two dinners and a 30+% tip came to $22 US and that included 2 beers. I had the Pok Chuk there and it was remarkably flavorful and tender. My first experience with Pok Chuk and another restaurant (recommended by another Uber driver) was dismal. No flavor and only slightly more tender than shoe leather. The Pok Chuk at Los Almondros redeemed Pok Chuk. The marinade, the grilling and the onions and tomato salsa were flavorful and a perfect match. Highly recommended if you're looking for authentic Mayan."

"We are in Mérida for a month and part of what we want to do is try as many local restaurants and traditional foods as we can. We found La Jarana with the help of a local friend who suggested we try some Mayan food....Not to be deterred we arrived early and promptly got a people watching seat near the road that encompasses the Plaza. We (my wife and I) began with drinks. I had a Victoria cerveza con limon $46.00 pesos. My wife had a glass of white wine at $82.00 pesos. We ordered our food with señor Senovio our waiter. I had the Cocthinita Pibil (a traditional Yucatan dish of slow roasted pork marianiated in sour orange juice seasoned with annatto seed) wrapped in a banana leaf and roasted below ground. Price was $181.00 pesos and my wife ordered the Panuchos (shredded turkey on retried tortillas with retried black beans, lettuce, tomato, sour onions and avocado) $129.00 pesos. Total bill was $438.00 pesos with $67.00 pesos as a la Propina built into the bill. Total bill $505.00 pesos. All in all a worthwhile experience if you want to east traditional Yucatan food. If not, my suggestion is somewhere else."

"From yadira at the Hostess-Desk to leon the waiter, the service impeccable only surpassed by the amazing cultural experience they are here! the cochinito pabil, vaporcito (holy guacamole) dare her! the panocho pabil yummmm. the best of the best is the joroche suppe. filled with the sausage corn meal dumpling in a black bean soup puree. the best I had in all mexiko since 1991. I mentioned, incredibly priced! there 3 times 8n 5 days!"
