"'Quick bite of the elements ' <br/ Sometimes walking through CBD there 's not much around for brekky particularly on Collins but stumbled into the place and seemed quite nice with heaps of hot breakfast items. I had an egg bacon muffin which was tasty almost like a Macca 's one. <br/ I also had a Chorizo and egg roll which was okay but probably needed a type of base pasting such as a nice relish as it was a little bit plain. I added chilli flakes to give it a bit more kick. We also had freshly made sandwiches which were massive and plenty of good ingredients. Their coffee (mocha) I thought was up there in taste.<br/"

"Northcote isn't my usual stomping ground, but my husband I had just been to Gravity a few doors up for a relaxing back to the womb flotation experience had worked up quite an appetite. Surprisingly, we had a hankering for eggs! Kau had...an all day brekkie menu so we were pretty confident that this funky little cafe could meet the needs of our post re-birthing cravings. We ordered the Avocado on sourdough toast with marinated feta, coriander Tabasco with poached eggs. Aaaagh, the waitress advised us that Kau didn't offer poached eggs, only baked or fried. My heart sunk we very nearly got up walked out the door, but instead decided to embrace change give the baked eggs a go. Now my experience of baked eggs has never been good, they have either been over cooked or undercooked never quite to my liking, so I was expecting the worst. But I was pleasantly surprised. The eggs were baked to perfection sat very proudly on top of the sourdough, avo feta. The combination of textures flavours was perfect, not too much or too little of anything. The service was friendly, the decor understated but very hip the food was excellent. What more could you want for your first eating experience straight out of the womb!"

"Augustus Tulk (1810-73) was the first Librarian of the State Library of Victoria (SLV). He was appointed in 1856, before Victroria was even a State. Tulk worked with Sir Redmond Barry to build the library's collection. It's a nice gesture to name a cafe in his honour. The cafe has good food at a reasonable price. It's a place to relax with a coffee or a glass of wine, and have a chat with a friend."
