"Great food, average service, the two are a bit disconnected. The wait for my meal was over an hour and my latte was sitting on the counter in view for 4-5 minutes before being served luke warm. I'd go back as the food was great but they need to improve their overall delivery."

"Just home from another excellent meal at the Boardwalk. Unfortunately there was an error today: my husband's breakfast was served but they forgot about mine! It was resolved very, very quickly along with sincere apologies from both the manager and the waitress who was looking...after us. They also took my hot chocolate off the bill, which was appreciated. For quality of food, professional and friendly service, and a stunning location, The Boardwalk is definitely my favourite place to eat in Bendigo. A hat stand and reinstating the Biggie would be nice, though..."

"Ordered take away tonight and the staff told us it would be 20-30 mins which was ok as it was a Friday night. Nothing to fancy Cantonese noodles, fried rice and noodles (ho fun) asked for no prawns but extra Chinese sausage. After waiting around...75 mins for our order I didn’t get any prawns in the noodles but I also didn’t get any Chinese sausage which is the star of the dish. If you have that many orders then just say it’s going to be an hours wait."

"Very friendly staff. A quirky restaurant with interesting food choices. Delicate dishes well presented with contrasting flavours.You can let the chef choose a menu for you or mix and match from the menu.Nice ambience warm and cosy.This place will not suit everyone though. It is somewhat expensive, but worth it.We will go back but not for a business lunch.The staff were great."

"Very very good. Nice building, tasty food and not expensive. Plus they are open on Mondays unlike most other restaurants around the place all closed until Tues or Wednesday. That's no way to run a business. Definitely we will be back."

"Malayan visits orchid twice last week during work in Bendigo. It was during the Elvis show at Art Gallery, so it was almost impossible to get a table somewhere in View Street. When I first came at 8.30, I could only get a table without booking. The (new? front of house manager was fantastic and very hospitable, how was Pam when I last visited Pre-Covid. Both food and beverage service has improved for several years, less fussy, faster, simple menu etc. The wine list offers some great drops like the Mandurang Merlot at just $8 a glass. Bress Chardonnay is also excellent and very "priced". Premium wines to 'house wine' prices, this for $12 have seen a glass not far from there. The beef-endang share was huge, a considerable amount of beef considering that this is reduced for many hours. Small fried rice small part also very generous. The staff was above all under pressure. Thanks to the young man who worked the front counter who called me when a table was available as I had a booking a few nights later. Delicious food. Bookings are probably essential for the next few months."

"Had lunch here on a quiet day, which suits. Publican very friendly and helpful. Good menu selections. Lots of little nooks and crannies to sit at. This is a pub/cafe as they do coffees and cakes.What a great idea. One small complaint which is probably our fault we ordered an entree but it came out with the main. Next time we will definitely say entree, mains. Good size portions, fresh and tasty food. Cold drinks. Lovely fires and a great pool table for after lunch games. Plenty of parking out the back. This pub is awaiting its verandah replacement so don't be put off by the construction fence out front. We will definitely return and recommend this pub for lunch."
