"I would give 5 stars if Happycow allowed that was such an amazing experience. Where I start....I was created by the 4 course vegan plants based menu price on £12 the catering students at Blackburn College, cooked, and served at Scholars. I and my husband went for lunch and the whole experience far exceeded our expectations, the food was amazing, beautifully presented, cooked, seasoned and was an absolute pleasure to eat. This is achieved, confident cooking and yet the chefs are only set at the age of 16 to 19 and their talents to damage many of the places I have dined, where the vegan kitchen was a token gesture, one after the thought of simply putting every old garbage on the plate. Scholar's vegan food was well thought out, creative, exciting and cooked with passion. I had a chat with student chefs Imogen and Gem (which made our mushroom dish Dessert) who were so enthusiastic about their cuisine. Credit is on her mentor Chef Dave and Restaurant Manager Karen for introducing a vegan plant-based menu. I can't wait to go back. Booking required with a deposit of £5. Wines are not currently marked, but this is being sought for the future, but the Prosecco is vegan. Very recommended."

"The Healing Shrine café has several vegan options. I ordered the Tofu salad and my father ordered the soup of the day. I asked to confirm that the bread, the spread and dressings that come with the salad were also vegan (a few venue slip-ups in the past has taught me not to accept), which actually caused a little confusion for my surprise, but after a discussion with other employees, it was solved. We were a little early to order the food as they did not begin to serve food until 12 a.m., but after a little wait, the meals came immediately after this time. I was thrilled with the aromas and the construction of my salad, also the bread was deliciously soft and fluffy. My father enjoyed his soup and also commented on how fresh the bread was. The interior is very modern, clean and uplifted, and despite my expectations that at this time it was quite quiet, it had a great atmosphere, with small groups of people already enjoying themselves in place. The place is very accessible; I noticed wheelchair users and people with buggies with few problems. The toilets were also easily accessible, although I think that the entrance to the cafe could be a little tight without help, so something could be in mind. I am thrilled with the options for vegans, with clear labelling systems, I think a little update with the staff so that they fully understand the menu and nutrition requirements would be a good way forward. I'll call you right back."

"We were greeted by amazing couple and shown to our table. The gentleman is very funny and so nice to be around. Very professional. We wanted afternoon tea but we haven’t pre-booked, although the gentleman has asked for the order to be made for us and we have been served amazing food. Absolutely outstanding and delicious food. Can’t recommend highly enough Will be visiting again"

"Purely visited because we drove the week before and I looked online to see if they had vegan options and was impressed by what I saw. sat for tee, cordial greeting from the staff, in which did all the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. we ordered cuddly tortilla chips and sweet corpses to start fritters, followed by flower cabbage steak and although I did not ask gluten-free for a gf version of banana blossom and chips. the dishes were beautifully presented and good portions. the whole food was delicious and very satisfying. I have eaten banana blossom fish and chips at several places and that was the best, the teig was light and not oily or greasy. we were too full of dessert, although we were tried. revisited for valentine’s, as they had vegan options, was the starter of peas-folded ravioli delicious. the fungal and chestnut trudel with gravur was beautiful, although I did not like the strongly spiced Petersnip mash and the roast pineapple dessert was too sweet. just something to further improve would be the kenndraw, which are weine and soaked vegan friendly. two options for the breakfast was a fully vegan garden breakfast or vegan sausage and hash brown sandwich. the garden breakfast was great with vegan spread available, although not sure about plant milk as I mean. excellent coffee. for lunch on the 1st april to try the new vegan options on the menu. ordered hairstyles with mayo, linguine with meatballs and aubergine and bean chalili.. the food was delicious and the service was also great. great a small pub company offers vegan options, so will definitely be new. updated by the previous review on 2022-04-04"

"Hair in food. Burger was burnt to the point it was crumbling. Bread and olives took 40 minutes to arrive. Truly embarrassing. I felt bad for the service staff who didn’t have any responsibility for the issues. Shame, what happened to this place? We could hear the kitchen staff complaining about our issues with the food as we were sat right in front of the doors. The table before us were complaining too. There was 3 tables of 2 in the restaurant. So not busy at all. I used to love it here. This was the second time having a bad meal as we were invited back to give them a second chance."

"We had two meals there. The first a evening meal was fine. Nothing fancy but hot and tasty. The music was very loud but it was turned down on request. The breakfast was less pleasing. We had the continental and took it at 9, so mid session. Very little left lots of empty trays. No maple syrup or marmalade left. We asked for those and more milk. Staff were pleasant and happy to check. We had to reject several plates/bowls from stack as not clean. The eating area was tidy with tables clean. But the decorative shelves and lampshades where dusty. What we did eat was fine. But given the limited selection im glad I had my blue light card discount as it would be overpriced at full price."
