"... when it comes to the many regulars during our presence, it seems to have to taste many here. For they say yes; “So many guests can’t be wrong, can they?” But that's how it's in life, what one tastes, doesn't taste the other. And that's good enough that we don't all have the same taste. We were invited to dinner on a Friday evening with friends who are more often here in “Piräus”. The Greek restaurant “Piräus” is located with two other Greek restaurants, on the main road at the northern end of Sande. On the one hand there is only one house, the “Ellas”, a former Greek, now Greek-Indian restaurant and a little further on the main road 92, the restaurant “Athen”. So all-hand competition at short distance. And as we were able to convince ourselves later, the “Piräus” with the number of guests, clearly had the nose in front. The “Piräus” itself had its opening in December 2014. Before that was the “Sultan’s Bistro Grill” building. Unfortunately, even today the “Piräus” looks like a quick snack. However, in the interior of the restaurant, we found the desired feel-good atmosphere, paired with the famous Greek hospitality and also felt very comfortable. Where well-being is defined differently by each guest. Although we were there quite early, the restaurant was already well visited and on the free tables we have seen reservation signs almost everywhere. Just good that we had reserved in advance. From the service team and their attention, there is hardly any increase. On this evening, with the owner there were three more very dedicated and friendly services in the not too big restaurant that took care of the well-being of the guests. Thus, not only did we get what is really unusual during our meal and also for farewell, the most popular Greek national drink, an ice-cold “Ouzo”, but there was a kind of aperitif as a small attention to greeting. Since we almost always order the same dishes in the Greek restaurants, we could also compare the dishes in their quality very well. As an appetizer we had asked if we could get (but not on the map “Grilled Peperoni in garlic oil”. Unfortunately there were not, for this we got according to map, “Grilled Peperoni in garlic sauce” for 4.40 €. As a supplement, there were elongated pieces of bread that looked like long late lards (see photo . Since the peperoni were probably only very short grilled (you could see they were still very juicy and so extremely sharp, so that you hardly had any taste for the other dishes. The peperoni with garlic sauce, certainly did not match our taste (we know much better with fresh baguette. Also the typical Greek grill specialities, such as lamb chops, souvlaki, Gyros and Suzukaki, did not like us so much. The lamb chops were just faded and tasteless. I suspect they were placed on the grill without spices. I did not know the rice as a supplement in this way. He was cooked in a vegetable broth. I'd rather like the Djuvec rice. Compared to what we know, the Gyros was simply cut to dry and too much too thick. Souvlaki (skewer and Suzukaki (peaceball), too, were not “sapy and tender”. We know better. Where the dishes were sufficient. In summary, we found that it is not worth visiting the restaurant “Piräus” in Sande."
