"When the huge cruise ship departs from the quay, the restaurant has a fantastic view of the Opera House and Circular Quay. We enjoyed sushi on the terrace. They were absolutely outstanding."

"Very accommodating staff and freshly cooked food is always available in breakfast. The restaurant has a very good ambience and is accessible to guests and outside customers."

"Went for the Vivid dining special steak dinner, also ordered additional drinks which was not included in the special deal. Drinks were lovely, steak was well grilled; however salad was so sad looking and fries were a bit over fried. Overall was ok, can not complain too much about special deal. The chocolate tart dessert was good, would definitely be better if the fresh cream can be swapped for icecream."

"I used it for breakfast, but as I said earlier, it is a disappointing level for breakfast at Shangri-la Hotel. I think it's better than the breakfast of a general hotel, but it's a fairly low level among the Shangri-la Hotels I've used so far. The taste, rather than the variation of the food, is poor, and there is no excitement from the morning that makes me want to take this and that too. It may be the biggest weak point in this hotel."

"It's true, it's one of the best, but also pricy. You can get a private Japanese style room for extra. Though the whole restaurant always feels quite elegant, stylish and relaxed. Perfect for a couples dinner.Previously I've tried the pink salt rock wagyu yakiniku which is delicious and a must as I haven't seen this on the menu anywhere else. Tonight we had the deluxe sashimi, all the seafood was delicious except for one, we had as much trouble eating it as the waitress pronouncing it in English (quite charming and I appreciate her effort). The scallops were the top pick off of the sashimi plate. We also had the marinated grilled COD, quite a strong & heavy taste, you can tell it was well prepared, just not to our taste. The staff are mostly Japanese and some of the patrons too. For me this is a good sign for good Japanese food. The restaurant has been around for years and it still remains popular for good reason.Reason why I am only giving it 4 stars is because I think this restaurant is excellent so I am being extra picky. We asked for the desert menu and were bought the bill instead, we insisted on the desert menu (only 6 items); we ordered one item and were told it's not available and were once again bought the bill. I took it as a sign to leave. But why not tell us at the start what is not available (you only have 6 items available anyways), and why not give us a second chance to order a desert... strange.I will be back because I really enjoy the atmosphere and food. But I feel for the price and the small quibbles we have experienced, I can not give it a perfect score."

"We read a bunch of Trip Advisor positive reviews before making a reservation here . Big mistake ! This restaurant , I can categorically say , is very poor . It is a restaurant in the Rocks area of Sydney . That’s the only real...thing on the website .. We saw no Italian staff on site and the food was a poor imitation of what you would expect from a “ brand “ purporting to be Italian . We were a table of 4 … 2 people got their starters . 10 mins later the second 2 diners got their entrées .. We then had 2 main courses delivered and 10 mins later 2 more . Absolutely terrible service We bought two of the most expensive wines on their list a very poor choice available by the way and then never saw a server again .. so we paid our bill and went over the road for more drinks .. At the end I told the manager we felt the food and service was terrible and he told us they were understaffed and tomorrow night when the cruise ship was in it would be worse ! Then charged us the full price ! Words fail me ! If you go here after reading this .. you now only have yourself to blame . Would not return ."
