"Arrived on a Monday night, seemed fairly quiet and weren't sure at first if we were going to get any service at all, helping ourselves to menus and taking a seat all without any sign of any staff. When the waiter arrived he was great, ordered a steak and a prawn salad all perfectly fine and reasonable quality. Large portions all round looking at other diners offerings. An unexpected find."

"Our 2 nights stay was quite an experience and we were amazed by it. We loved the old building with its labyrinthic corridors up to the top floor where our large, luminous room, overlooking the main road was located, the Victorian decorations with myriad of...details we discovered every time we had a look around. What was really unnerving was the fact that everything was clean and looked new and old at the same time it did not feel like an old place, it felt as we were transported back in time (not completely, but as much as you can expect – the place is electrified and it has wifi, the gaslighting was replaced . Excellent bed and bathroom, covid secure measures taken in the whole building, tasty breakfast and dinner. Zoe Chris, the owners, put a lot of love and work in upkeeping this historic building, hotel and restaurant. We thank them for the great hosting and the suggestions for eating out and walk routes in the area. We apologise we did not realise Monday after Easter holidays was a quiet night, and we forced them to keep the restaurant open for dinner for the two of us only. We loved our stay and we would like to come back."

"After a great experience last Sunday we went back this Sunday and we’re not disappointed. After my husband was feeling dizzy from the heat, Chris, one of the new owners, was very kind. We had booked a quiet table and he escorted us to a delightful table in the snug, bringing iced water etc. The starters of crab and gazpacho were just right and we followed these with roast lamb washed down with pints of ice cold Estrella. All was delicious…. But the gravy…. Was in a league of it’s own! Proper gravy made with the meat juices just like Grandma used to make! This week my husband plumped for the fish and chips and I started with fish goujons otherwise we repeated last Sunday’s choices. Sadly, we are not local otherwise we would be eating here regularly. We wish Chris, Pinder and co every success in their new venture!"

". . . and then he told me how much, after we had left. We had the Plough Inn Burger £16.95, Club Sandwich £13.95 and the total of our bill was £45.60 . . . meaning our drinks, 1 x pint of orange juice and soda, 1 x large Chardonnay was £14.70! We didn't want a large meal as midday, and we said that the meals were fine when asked, but I had given half my Club Sandwich and fries to my husband as his burger was very small. We have passed this pub many times over the years and decided to give it a try . . . when initially pleased we will now not return."
