"We had the best Sunday lunch here last week as a family. I could not fault the food tasty and refined (this is NOT a carvery! and the meat was cooked perfectly. They currently offer pork or beef and both are tender and cooked to perfection. The vegetables are very well thought out. No boiled veg here! It is delicious sticky red cabbage, garlic and rosemary roasties, mashed carrot and swede, honey glazed carrots, cauliflower cheese...and the gravy! There is also a veggie option and a dessert menu. The service is quick and friendly. So good, that we're going back today! Noticed they do a food menu Weds to Sat too."

"Instant coffee sold at real coffee prices. £4.30 for bacon baguette and coffee. Ordered bacon baguette, bacon uncooked, lots of very hard fat, asked for butter but was given margarine, no explanation that butter wasn’t available, just substituted without discussion. Utterly vile. The closest I’ve come to throwing food away in years. On the plus side the lady serving was friendly and they had a very tasty looking range of lunchtime sandwich fillings."

"We recently spent a week in Hereford and ate at a number of restaurants but Mediterrane stood out for us.Anyone who looks at their website and reads these reviews will know that it's an unpretentious place with a lovely, gregarious chef/owner but eating there, I wasn't expecting the best meal I can honestly remember eating anywhere!Of course these things are subjective and when I saw the ingredients in Chicken Casablanca, I knew it was to my taste, but I truly can't remember enjoying a dish more.The restaurant is well named as it really did transport us to one of the many similarly unpretentious restaurants where we have eaten on various holidays around the Med. Highly recommended and our only disappointment is that we won't be returning to Hereford in the near future so will not be able to repeat the experience."

"We stayed here for a couple of nights recently. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds near Ross on Wye. The buildings look impressive from the outside. They have some quirky rooms in on old trucks. We stayed in one in the eaves as we booked it a little late. The room was large and light and clean. But... there is no shower other than the shower head in the bath which is in the room. So use the shower normally and the carpet gets wet! The toilet and the sink are in a small room . I 'm 5ft 11 and I couldn 't stand up. There was no phone , so you have to ring the main reception and they took ages to answer the phone. When I asked why there is no phone in the room I was told the owners don 't want any phones! The receptionist greeted us with an Awright? Not very professional. The staff didn 't seem that happy or enthusiastic and certainly not well trained. Breakfast was ok. The pool was outdoor as was the sauna. We didn 't use them because the weather was poor. It had a slight Fawlty Towers feeling about the place as some of the staff needed help from colleagues etc. The catering bottle of Lea and Perrins dumped on the table at breakfast was a highlight. We wouldn 't recommend it to friends."

"For the first time I had stayed in the beautiful village of Ross-on-Wye , I wanted to taste some of the beers made by the Wye Valley Brewery sited in Stoke Lacy , Herefordshire. I had researched some pubs in Ross one of which was...the Man of Ross situted a few hundred yards down from the Royal Hotel where my wife and I were staying. We walked down from the hotel one night so as to taste the beer called Butty Bach which is Welsh for Little Friend The Man of Ross is a pub which also serves food but which was not serving food that evening. We walked into the bar which was rather a disappointment as it is a cramped place. Fortunately that evening , it was quiet enough for my wife and I to get a table and two chairs. I stood at the bar and ordered a pint and a half of Butty Bach and asked the barman if he would pour the beer so that it had a nice head on it. Unfortunately , both beers hardly had a head on them and , having drunk a couple of inches down the glass , no head remained. In addition , the taste of the beer was not brilliant. Drinkable , yes , but nowhere near as good as a pint in the Bear Hotel in Cowbridge nor the Brunswick Arms near the Uplands in Swansea. Very disappointing but I would try the Kings Head the following evening to see how it fared !"

"A small ?20 covers) on the B4348 in the centre of the village of Peterchurch. Very good beef and Yorkshire for Sunday lunch. Generous helpings. Fair prices, and that includes the wine list. Charming service headed by Sarah in the kitchen with husband Steve out front."

"A great and tasty meal. The welcome by the Manager (Joanne..I think her name was) was very welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. The burger was very tasty and my Nepalese Chicken curry was absolutely divine. Presented beautifully and the chicken was so tender and the taste remarkable. Great meal and great service…what more is needed..??"
