"My last Indian restaurant review was Nirvana in Vienna (see "This Nirvana is Hell"), which I would give a zero rating if I could. Maharaja is in the small town of Stein. The old joke, as you know, is "Stein und (and) Krems are three towns". Near as I could tell, the town of Und was one block long, as Schillerstrasse turned into Undstrasse which turned into Steinerstrasse. Follow Steinerlandstrasse (the main street through Stein) to Rathausplatz and there is Maharaja. The service was fast, my food came quickly and it was excellent (some chicken dish with lots of vegetables and spices). The server even came up to me later and asked if the food was good (that doesn't happen in Europe very often). Very nice experience! I was there for lunch. Prices were very reasonable. There is a nice outside eating area, but it was raining the day I was there."

"Very good food. Fresh meats and fishes. Big variety of dishes and nice cooking. Easy to mix your ingredients with meat vegetables and sauces. Nice place to sit. A lot of deserts. Will go again. Prices are open buffet and you pay reasonable prices for drinks."

"Living in this part of Europe often one forgets there's such a thing as great service. These guys just take the cake! They anticipated our wishes based on our order, took our special wishes in stride and built on them to give us an amazing...dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, for vegetarians and meat eaters alike! Cannot recommend this place enough!"

"Auf Grund der Lage sind die (Betreiber) nicht angewiesen, herzlich zu Ihren Gästen zu sein....eher Abfertigungs-Maßnahme, schade um das gute Essen in so einer Atmosphäre!Wir haben dann auf das Dessert verzichtet und wollten nur noch weg."
