"Arrived 6 p.m. after a lovely wine tasting at Caveau Ropiteau, nearby. The check-in was perfunctory and when I asked about booking for dinner was told rather curtly they were full. The woman at the (hotel desk didn 't even ask if she could help us with other arrangements. After walking all the way over to a second-choice restaurant and finding them closed, then talking with the infinitely more helpful tourist bureau woman (who CALLED that restaurant and left a message , i let our hotel know the alternative restaurant might be calling to confirm decline our reservation for 7 p.m. Still, no help from hotel, back to tourist office who made 2 additional phone calls on our behalf before they finally closed. On returning from a lack-luster restaurant choice at Hotel Des Arts (who thankfully WAS available for dinner w o reservations , there was no one on duty. We checked out early next morning and again our reception from the same woman was chilly. As the rooms were simple, the bathrooms were old, the beds were low and the price was 'average ', any effort at pleasantness or courtesy on behalf of the owner(? front desk would have resulted in a more favorable rating. Friends, on realizing we had stayed at a Michelin rated restaurant hotel couldn 't believe we didn 't get to eat there. Maybe this was a good thing, for if restaurant service modeled that of the hotel we would have been even more disappointed???"

"We came across this wonderful eating experience inadvertently while seeking advice at a local food store on where to go for dinner? The store proprietor confidently told me I have the best table in Meursault ! but you can 't eat here tonight if you want to eat here you must book! It transpired that he only cooked on a Tuesday Friday (choosing what he would cook/serve that night from the best food available at the Market . We booked for the next night and were told we must arrive at 8pm. It was a beautiful warm night. Just we 3 and another table of 8. We all chose to eat in the private courtyard beside the dining room /kitchen. For the entree we selected from a generous array of delectable plates of cured meats, anchovies, sardines, salads, cheeses fabulous eggs with a superb mayonnaise fish roe. Then a series of individual plates were served..I particularly remember a plump pan fried scallop on a medallion of potato and spinach and the chicken casoulet. Desert was a perfectly cooked banana and home made vanilla ice cream. The local wine was wonderful (a chablis 35 Euro after the entree we decided the meal deserved a better wine chose a local pinot 65 . We felt like dinner guests at Valerie 's home as he prepared the food, served it, sat for a while with the 'locals ' at the next table (enjoying our experience of his cooking before returning to the kitchen. During the first course we decided that I must have misunderstood the menu price. A lovely location, wonderful food wine and the cost? 15 Euro each plus wine!!!"
