"A peaceful place with a fantastic view in an indigenous community. it is a family stay with the opportunity to help with their daily work. they can collect with all of the feeding of animals, harvested from cultures, mussel beans firewood, help the food etc. the family is very open and I really felt at home during my stay. I recommend staying at least one week as there is a lot to do and see in the cotacachi area and there are times for them to immerse themselves in community life."

"My name is fred jump from California usa. In 1980 I was a few weeks at aida. I also visited more paints in the 80s and 90s. they just started the hostel, then by themselves. Their children were small. as she had just started, the things weren't as I see the pictures today. in these days there were only 5 or 8 rooms in total. some even hang hammocks and put sleeping bags in the current dinning room. the shower was outside. her dining room was her living room, which looks like today's kitchen. In 1980 I was there when her first of them arrived. it was made of plywood and the inside was lined with 2 layers of aluminum paper. a glowing beacon depends on the inside. everyone looked at and wondered if she thought she could cook in a plywood box with a light bulb. we all laughed. we laughed even harder when we heated delicious cake in the night boiled in the plywood box with the light bulb. aida showed us! she did what was necessary to work. I see now, it is much bigger and looks very successful. good for you aida! this trip I started in february 1980 through South America lasted 15 months. from all countries and places I visited, casa aida felt more like home than all others. aida took her home. she always had a friendly smile. I often wonder how many people in the world think passionately about their journey to ecuador and casa aida and the love and friendliness aida has given to everyone. I am 63 years old now and planning a trip to ecuador with my 23 year old son next year. I look forward to my friend aida."
