"This particular IHOP is new and the hostess there was rude. Never acknowledged us while we waited to be seated. The best thing about this place was our server Johnny! He was great! Took our order didn't even write it down and came back and everything was perfect! If you go to this one asked for Johnny as your server he will take great care of you! Thank you Johnny, you were the best part of this place!"

"Big Spoon is the best ice cream in Birmingham, hands down. Heck, even the vegan flavors are delicious. My wife and I have gone twice in one day, it's that good. Try a split scoop: it's a small up-charge for the opportunity to try two flavors. FYI though, more than that starts to be a richness overload and decent dent in the wallet."

"We finally went to Jinsei after hearing about all the good reviews about their sushi. The sushi was fair. The spicy miso soup was good. My son ordered a BYOB bowl that came with a hair. When pointed out the waiter immediately took it back and brought a new one. Unfortunately, no apologies were offered and the experience robbed us of an appetite. Waiter didn’t even acknowledge that my son hadn’t eaten much (if any at all) of the hair free bowl. Didn’t comp the dish either. Overall pretty underwhelming experience and poor service."

"Nice take on middle eastern cuisine. On my first visit to the Onion I had the gyro plate and it was delicious. It consisted of a side of fruit (pineapple and orange slices); hummus with pita bread; a small side salad (garnished with a ring of purple onion) and a substantial pile of slices of nicely seasoned gyro meat on a bed of wild rice. With a bottle of water it was about $12. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The menu also includes burgers, baked potatoes and standard non-greek type sandwiches, so there's something for everyone. Service was fast and friendly. A great little spot!"

"Disappointing.. My husband and I had really looked forward to trying Maple Street Biscuit Company but will not be back. I ordered the five and dime biscuit, and my husband ordered the retro plate. After waiting over half an hour for something we thought would only take 15 minutes, my husband went to check on our order, only to be told the health inspector had shown up . Not sure why that would delay our food. I can understand why the health inspector was there. The restaurant was filthy. Tables were dirty, the drink machine looked like it hadn 't been cleaned in months, the salt and pepper shakers were coated in, I guess syrup, and caked up, the floors and counters were dirty. When we finally received our food the biscuits were cold and hard, the bacon was greasy, the jelly was extremely runny and everything was cold. I am posting a photo of my biscuit, while the presentation is nice, it did not taste good for the reasons I listed above. Just very disappointing, and definitely will not be back."
