"My wife and I shared a teriyaki chicken bowl, premium sashimi and some gyoza. Service was fast and food was very good, higher quality that I had expected from a mall sushi restaurant. Prices are not cheap, but not insane either for the quality."

"Located west side, its kinda like a Korean bbq/ Japanese fusion buffet, except they use hot stones instead of a grill to cook your meat. Cool concept<br/ <br/ Buffet is 43$ for filet mignon, and 38$ for all other meats. Imo pick the 38$ option, it includes strip lion(tastes better than filet mignon), lamb and shrimp. <br/ Their beef meats are very good, dry aged its tender and flavourful. Meats excluding filet mignon is unlimited if you order a drink. <br/ <br/ Their beef tataki is unlimited and one of the best I've had in town(I've tried pretty much everyplace). Seems like high quality meat, tender and smooth.<br/ <br/ Their sashimi/ sushi is only alright nothing special, expect average quality. They do offer deep fried scallops and oysters. <br/ <br/ All in all, its worth a try atleast once for the amazing beef tataki, unlimited sashimi, tender strip lions and unique gimmick. Also ice cream for dessert is provided."

"Dropped in for lunch. The place is clean and welcoming, and along a more quiet section of Whyte Ave. The sushi bar looked promising and there was a list of special fish, which we did not try. We sat by a bright window...the chairs are...solid metal frame and weigh a ton. The menu s offer a lot of the usual variety from appetizers to sushi to donburi to ramen. It was clear that this was formulaic to the previous generation of fuller service Japanese restaurants. Given the name, we were hoping for a great ramen stop, but the menu and place did not inspire us to even try the ramen. In fact, in a food court like sense, we just ordered bento boxes. The accompanying miso soup was whitish instead of miso coloured but was pleasant, and the salad was fresh but more in keeping with the 70's steak house iceberg lettuce salads with a drizzle of thinned mayonnaise. The box had tempura which was quite good , rice ok but not steaming , teriyaki chicken good grill flavour, but overcooked to slight dry , and some salmon tuna snapper sashimi fresh enough but somewhat flavourless . The prices were ok for the meal at about 13 per box. If this were a food court, I'd be happy, but there are many choices further down the street that are more refreshed."

"We used to go to this restaurant a few years ago. We were recently in Edmonton and decided to go again. Terrrible service and terrible food. We were the only people in the restaurant. That should have been our first clue to leave. We got...menus and then he is more interested in his phone. Asked for water and got Luke warm tap water. Then we had to ask for ice and he brought ice cubes. Asked for more ice and my husband asked if he was more interested in his phone than serving us. The food was terrible. Deep fried zucchini Turned out to be cucumber. I told him the bento box was not good but he didn't seem to care."

"Ever since we came back from Japan, Canadian Japanese food has never tasted the same except this place reminds us of our time in Tokyo Japan. Sushi rice was spot on, especially the Salmon Roll. The short rib teriyaki was perfectly done. Service was attentive."

"I went here for a business lunch with a friend. The food was fast and the service was great. My only comment is the location looks like it's straight out of a 70's movie, could use a bit of updating, but it also brings a bit of charm."

"After many years away, we decided to go to Chop for our anniversary dinner. The steak bites are really delicious and were the only appetizer we ordered. We decided to have the dinner combo which includes soup or salad (several to select from,) your main course with sides included. We had the Caesar salad which was a bit bland for me, and we had the prime rib mushroom soup which was very good and very flavourful, we would definitely recommend it! I ordered the prime rib and it was excellent. It really melted in my mouth! I ordered the end cut which is a little more medium than a centre cut and I loved it. I also had a baked potato and the veggies which were all very good. Our waitress was excellent and at the end of the evening she brought us a glass of champagne and an anniversary card with a card for a free escargot at our next visit, which was a nice touch to a great evening. We really appreciated that our waitress did not rush us and she was very accommodating. The only down side was that they wanted to seat us by the bathroom even though there were plenty of tables and we had a reservation. They did, however, move us when I requested but the hostess was not really pleasant about it. I would have given the visit a 5/5 had it not been for the rocky start!"
