"Firstly I must say that the '3 ' rating is purely because of the attitude of the proprietor when I had had the audacity to query my bill. The food was excellent. Rabbit as you 've never tasted it before, with a beautiful red wine and rosemary sauce very strong on the rosemary delicious. This was a birthday celebration for my wife. Unfortunately the evening was spoiled by an 'error ' on the bill. We were visiting Bellinzona as part of a group tour, breakfast and dinner included, and had to cater for ourselves that evening conveniently. The restaurant had been recommended and table booked for us by a very nice lady who was our guide on a tour of Locarno. Now I don 't speak much, if any, Italian but understand enough to know what 'romantico ' means. Our table was anythng but 'romantico ' but never mind. To begin with, after being seated we were offered a glass of white wine. We thought that we 'd mad it understood that we 'd prefer red but white we got language barrier or colour blindness? We went for the former. My wife doesn 't (apart from the odd glass of wine drink alcohol and requested a glass of water with her meal. It was not forthcoming (language barrier again? but was charged on the final bill. Also on the bill was a charge for the two glasses of wine. Then a credit, then a charge for two glasses of wine at a price two Swiss Francs higher! I wanted to know what the cost of a glass of wine actually was but the language barrier (conveniently? got in the way again. The two Francs was deducted (reluctantly? from the total but the proprietor appeared to take umbrage when advised that my wife hadn 't received the glass of water that we were being charged five Francs for! He snatched up the bill, took it away and returned with a new one seven Francs lower. I agreed to pay it and tendered my card. Our host wanted to charge my card in 's Sterling. I wanted to pay in Francs and let Visa decide on the cost. Whether it was because his machine was acting up or the language barrier was getting in the way, again, or he was just a bit cheesed off by now I don 't know but he tore the transaction slip from the machine, slammed it on the table and with a curt goodbye flounced off. Needless to say he didn 't get a tip and we didn 't get a 'goodnight ' on the way out."

"Had a lovely lunch. They run different menu choices for lunch a good price with one course comprehensive of water at CHF 26 main course, two courses at CHF 33. Very good choice between meat, fish and vegetarian options even if not many but indeed part of the deal it's the surprise that comes with not knowing what you will eat as it's all fresh.We had both fish and meat cook to perfection. Friendly and attentive service."

"We were drawn in by the good looking pastries. We had a light lunch and then ordered the pastries. I am sorry to report that the lunch was better than the pastries. The restaurant was crowded but the service was efficient. Lunch for two, with...water cost €26 plus tip. It was worth the price."

"I got hungry after our visit to the Castello Sasso Corbano around 3pm. Came to this restaurant. They said their kitchen was closed but said they could arrange some cold meat and cheese plates for us. We agreed. It was very nice and more than enough. There were locals celebrating after a baby's baptism. We experienced a local and festive environment after all. We sat outside under some umbrellas protecting us from the sun. The wind was refreshing. There was also a small playground for children. The toilets were clean."

"Hard to find (not that much actually it's just behind the railway station but worth the effort. Excellent, mostly local, products, large choice, cosy atmosphere, smiling welcome... reasonable prices... everything that is so rare in the area. Definitely our best bet so far in Bellinzona...for quality. Be ready to listen carefully at the beginning of the meal as the menu is only communicated orally! Impressive choice of local wines."
