"I visited The Ship in September , two Sunday's in a row. On my first visit I had the roast beef could barely cut it never mind chew it. It was like rubber I did not enjoy it at all! The 2nd visit I had the roast pork it was ok but I was surprised that there were no mashed potatoes , only roasted!? Also it would be better if the gravy could be served in a side jug because my plate was swimming in it (lead to a very soggy yorkshire pudding)! The gravy also had far too much mixed herbs in it so the taste of them took over the whole meal! Really feel the food was very mediocre , on both occasions , to say the least! The service on my 2nd visit was a shambles! They were late in setting up so we had to wait in reception, although we had booked a table! The waiter brought our menu's as we were reading through them , he came back took them from us , saying he had given us the wrong menu!? We were then handed a very short menu , printed onto paper!? The choice for mains was terrible (3 options). Well , I wasn't having the beef again , don't like quiche , so that left me with the pork! The mains were brought to our table before our starters so were taken away again! The starters were then brought out we had no spoons for the soup! Overall my two experiences at The Ship do not make me want to go back am surprised that any of this could be what a Best Western Hotel would be happy with!?"

"I booked this pub for my birthday celebration in September, hoping for a memorable evening with friends. However, it turned out to be a disastrous experience. First off, the exorbitant prices of the drinks were a shock, and to make matters worse, we were greeted by flooded toilets upon arrival. The leakage from the toilets had even begun seeping through the ceiling, creating an unpleasant and unhygienic atmosphere for everyone, especially the customers downstairs. It stunk! Adding insult to injury, one of the toilets was completely blocked, and it seemed that the staff was unaware or indifferent to the issue. To top it all off, a young child unfortunately vomited on the floor downstairs, and the mess was left unattended for a shocking 20 minutes, creating a repulsive ambiance for everyone present. To our horror, the plumber who was called in to address the issue was walking around with a rod that appeared to be dripping urine everywhere. This blatant lack of hygiene standards was unacceptable and utterly off-putting. As if these incidents weren't enough, the drinks were overpriced, and to our dismay, they ran out of the spirits. Despite these glaring issues, there was no sign of any apologies from the management, let alone a gesture of goodwill such as a partial refund. I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of this establishment, especially for any special occasions or celebrations. It was a night that left a bitter taste in our mouths and has undeniably tarnished my perception of this pub."

"I had the most magical time, the waiters was so nice to me. There names were Marisha and Slomiya, and they ensured that I was happy and overall made me feel welcomed. And the food was amazing. I will be returning for more."

"Luke warm off chicken that just smelt vile. The others order was a cheese and been jacket. This was completely tasteless. We took the chicken and avocado back and the assistant argued that it had just been cooked. However he was not prepared to taste or smell it. We were offered a replacement but opted for just a jacket with avocado. Do not waste your money go elsewhere."

"Lovely old pub well kept with fantastic location by the river and plenty of tables outside right down to the river. With good food and very friendly staff. Great place."

"Stopped here by chance for breakfast and coffee, sat outside as we had our dog with us and it was a gorgeous morning. Very quickly our dog was provided with a bowl of water. Things like that mean a lot when you are a dog owner. Coffee was one of the best and the food delicious, even the dog had a sausage. Very friendly and welcoming."
