"On our return to Berlin this year we had to revisit Frusammers.Last year it was quite exceptional. On booking we inadvertently booked the all inclusive menu and of course ended up with far more than we intended both on the plate and levelled at the...pocket. But it didn't matter. The chef is a master and the cooking was absolutely superb in respect of every single one of 10 courses we received. Perhaps one of the combinations didn't quite come off texture wise but no matter. This was perfection. As ever, there's a hell of a lot going on the plate and I cannot imagine what it takes to execute perfectly virtually every time at this rarefied level. Bravo. If you go for the all-inclusive you can drink as much as you like and some of the stuff they give you a drink can only be described as extremely moreish. Which is why I couldn't care less that it cost a few sovs. You can't take it with you as they say. The restaurant is still situated in a tennis club, but I seemed to be aware less of the thwack of ball on racket than I was last year, which is probably due to the booze.Or perhaps better soundproofing The two young waitresses are absolutely fantastic at their job and this year left our water on the table for us to pour by ourselves. The dining room is spacious and a lovely place in which to sit and relax,let alone have the most delicious food beautifully wrought, placed in front of you. They are getting it all right here And thus it was that I was surprised when the chef the charming Sonja Fruhsammer,on her sweep round the dining room seemed in awe of another top-class chef in England Sonja has nothing to fear from her. We will be back. And this time will book the all-inclusive knowingly!"

"TERRIBLE staff, a discredit to Berlin and Germany as a whole. The English are not natural moaners and we tend to put up with a lot but our experience was so bad I felt had to leave a reveiw, so here goes..... Our group of...8 people (4 male and 4 female group, all over 50) walked into the bar and over to a large empty table, no room here for you was the waiters comment. So we walked to a different empty table in case the first was reserved. No place for you here, you must leave was the response from the waiter he even ushered two of us out! How rude can you be? We have been visiting Germany for the past 25 years and have never been treated so badly, one of us was also a German national. The bar owner was present (we know this as he was described to us later), so obviously instrumental in his staff taking this attitude – what such a horrible person is doing running a bar I don’t know? He could not have formed any opinion of us other than we were a group of 8 middle aged tourists as we were not in the bar for more than two minutes. We moved up the road to another bar and the attitude could not have been more different. Staff were very helpful, recommending beers and wines. Complimentary bar snacks and nibbles were offered and we ended up spending the whole night there, and a lot of money. The owner of this bar did say the owner of Bose Buben Bar has a reputation for this type of behaviour. I can only say vote with your feet, and wallets. Bar Buben was possibly the worst establishment I have visited anywhere, and does not represent Germany in a very good light at all. Look through the comments and make your own mind up. In no way is this a reflection on Berlin or Berliners other than this episode we all had a fantastic time in this great city. Sorry, but you have been warned."
