"We stayed at the Plough and Harrow overnight as we attended a concert at the Symphony Hall. Very conveniently situated, there is a free car park on site. We were welcomed by a lovely lady at Reception. We love the Victorian building. The breakfast room, lobby and sitting room are nicely decorated and furnished in the Victorian style. Our room on first floor was spacious, the King size bed comfortable. Nice bathroom. All very clean. Free Wifi efficient. Good night sleep (no traffic noise heard). Good breakfast. The staff are very friendly and take an interest in the guests. We were very pleased with the hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family."

"Don't let the website fool you. I booked here assuming that it had a restaurant attached and beloved that was what I booking but when we arrived we were told the food is served in the room and the buffet menu is set, you can not choose your own food. The website needs vast improvement."

"We just had esme’s eats for the first time and it was so delicious! I ordered the vegan curry and rice, two noodles, clearinette and chips for me and my daughter and it was a lot for both of us with rest also. will definitely order from here again."

"Gosh, we had high hopes, but we have to say that we were disappointed. The venue is small and quite cramped being a small retail unit. Service was friendly and knowledgable, but the majority of the food from the 8 course Chef’s menu lacked the freshness, colour and vibrancy that we had expected. Too many of the dishes were overpowered with heavy umami flavours and too much salt. It was hard to get a sense of the fruits or vegetables forming the key elements of the dish. This meant that the attraction of the restaurant was lost. Our standout dishes (which did have freshness and vibrancy) were the deep fried Japanese rice ball with ginger and the beetroot with basil oil. This might be a seasonal issue but, for us, the Chef’s menu simply does not work. We also appreciate that, given the size of the venue, it is important that bookings do turn-up but charging full payment in advance with no cancellation policy, only a right to amend the date, is going a bit too far. We know that the restaurant gets great reviews but we can only give 3 stars."

"I honestly don't get the good reviews this place has, I'm going to assume that the owner has changed. not only everything on the menu is very expensive, but also fish had a very bad quality and sashimi was 't properly defrosted and because she cut it too thick, it was cold inside. when we said that they were not in agreement with us (without checking whether the fish was first to see if we say the truth) and replied that the fish should not be cold because never was in the freeze cabinet, which is very related as all fish rosig should be in the freeze cabinet for at least two days before serving. of course, even if we were not able to eat the full amount of sushi because it was VERY...read more"
