"We came a Friday in february to dinner. first the decoration is excellent. some people have undoubtedly delayed it, but we loved the eccentricity and the collected objects that line the walls. second, the server and the chef were two big and jolly italians. they were friendly and our server was happy to make sweat and wink and to feel welcome. he came and sat next to us to our order again some would complain that it was too much that we loved it. we were sent free amuse bouche, a few Arancini balls. then we had net, I took pasta with spicy Italian sausage and the fiance took a pizza. eating was a little disappointing, I hoped for huge, fat aromen and while the pasta and pizza were both good, they were not remarkable. we were asked if we wanted to dessert, and the server/barman/manager was blatantly enthusiastic when we asked if they had any canolis. he hurried, rejoiced that we even knew the word. it was quiet in the restaurant and it was fun to watch as our kerl constantly called somone who had reserved a table for ten, but obviously did not want to show up. it was like a funny color in itself and we don't mind at all. the atmosphere is as relaxed as in an Italian living room, and we loved it. not one for those who want to prim and right. but for us, do not change the service a bit."

"This is one of the best restaurants I found in Avignon, and we 've been eating out a lot. The food was amazing. I would mention the Fois gras first, as it was the star of the table. Then, the onion soup, definitely better than what I had lately. Also the Gigot D 'agneau is a must try. If you 're not into fancy dishes, the burger is very very well cooked. Ah, not to mention that the prices are not as high as I would have expected. Awesome experience!"

"A place where you forget everything except having fun. Excellent menu from cocktails to coffee, it smells homemade.. Perfect service, fast, pleasant, thank you to both of them. The show with 7 dancers is complete, to the point they are all beautiful, radiant, smiling and the singer with a voice... bewitching. The costumes in the many scenes are magnificent, I have never been to a famous cabaret, but I am sure that the costumes are, in my opinion, no different. The only regret is that we would have liked to meet the artists at the end of the show to be able to tell them how much we appreciated them, to share with them the immense joy they gave us. To conclude, our table of 4 we are all unanimous in designating a friendly cabaret, we have the impression of being part of the same family. Thank you for this beautiful evening."

"Most highly recommended! The staff of this lovely table d’hôte have struck the perfect balance between the formal and informal, the gourmet and the healthy, the savoir faire of slow food culture and the reality of our schedules during Festival d’Avignon (fast culture). I spent my 47th birthday at La CHARTREUSE CNES during Festival d’Avignon 2022. I came to tour the grounds and stayed for two performances and a reading. When I arrived I did not have a reservation and realized I had planned my day without a sufficient opportunity to eat. I had precious little time between ticketed events and no reservations at Les Jardins d’été. Between events I stopped in and asked if a table for one could be arranged for that same evening between 20h45 and 21h20. The monsieur said that is when they are most busy but that he will squeeze me in. The experience was unforgettably delicious, efficiently prepared and served, and priced, as the French would say, “correctly.” I ordered the filet du bar and millefeuille of fromage and légumes du moment with a glass of white wine from the Luberon recommended by the staff. The yellow courgette (zucchini) was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. A revelation. The fish was good no complaints but that courgette was mystical. They managed to get my food out to me in under 7 minutes a sort of magic trick? After the 21h30 performance I returned for dessert the tastiest soupe des fruits I’ve ever had. And because it was my birthday, the house offered me an exceptional French saké. When I couldn’t finish either one due to a bus I needed to catch back to Avignon, they put both the remaining soupe des fruits and saké into “to go” cups with lids and sent me smiling and whistling on my way! I look forward to future birthdays in the same restaurant. Alone, with others, or in a group, I can hardly wait! There are few historic settings more beautiful than La CHARTREUSE CNES. This restaurant is a contemporary jewel in the heart of a historic ancient abbey. GO!"

"I'm really surprised by the low reviews, I thought the food was excellent and the staff were incredibly attentive. I had a tofu Poke Bowl which was huge and delicious. I always have low expectations for vegan food in French restaurants but the dish was...creative and tasty. My son had chicken in breadcrumbs which was so much better than those horrible mass produced nuggets that other restaurants serve. The restaurant is in a great location and better than the other surrounding restaurants."
