"We had heard about this tiny restaurant with 10 covers last year but they were fully booked so we had to wait until we came to Cornwall again to get in! Today, quite by chance, we saw the board out the front saying limited space for lunch so made the decision to see if we could get a table. Thankfully we could. This little restaurant is quite simply the best food we've had in a long time. The chef knows his ingredients and flavours so well and you can tell he must have earnt his stripes from some of the best in the industry. Cerys the waitress was very sweet, knowledgeable and interpersonal too. It's just the two of them and how they pull it off is anyones guess. The cost is well under what you'd imagine it might be and is far and away better value and taste than any high street cafe lunchtime sandwich and cake. If you're wondering if you should book a table at this little hidden gem, my advice would be just pick up the phone and get yourselves a table PDQ or like us, you may be forced to wait a year!"

"Just had our third Sunday roast here and again it was fantastic! For a start this is a proper old fashioned inn with beams, fireplaces, even a well! Then there’s the fact it’s an independent pub with a great choice of beers, very well kept too! Then there’s the food! Choice of roasts including vegetarian and vegan all arrive with generous portions of veg on the side, back in the Summer you could have a salad selection if you preferred. The puddings are home made and delicious and the bill won’t make you break out in a sweat! The staff are lovely! Our waitress had only been in the job for three days but was friendly and helpful and the landlord is definitely a host who makes you feel welcome! Already looking forward to our next visit!"

"Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Didn't feel rushed or pressured, just the right touch from the welcome until we left. Food was well presented with excellent flavours with a good wine list. Everything clearly explained. Parking: Stayed in the village but there is plenty of on street parking available Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner"

"Impresses with faster reaction to booking a table. we enjoyed friendly and efficient service. relaxing atmosphere, with delicious farewell. the price-performance ratio can not be folded, so many natives say much for the royal oak. definitely worth a visit."
