"I've heard good things about Oishii Ramen for a while but were a bit disappointed after our visit. The service was impeccable but the actual ramen left a lot to be desired. My tonkotsu ramen looked and smelled rather impressive when it arrived, the broth even though salty was not inedible and had an ample amount of pork bone flavour. The chashu was gelatinous and noodles were smooth. The egg was only an ordinary hard-boiled one, not gooey soft-boiled as advertised and I find the hard texture coldness of it clumsy against the delicate broth. The bits that let the ramen down the most was the overly crunchy bamboo shoots, they were way too pickley and didn't taste like they belong in the bowl, together with the rest of the ingredients. Ian also noted how salty his miso broth was and as did Y., although she didn't mind it as much because she liked how the spiciness was able to mask the saltiness. All in all you can find a good bowl of ramen here for the South of River folks but not worth the drive for us sorry."

Great place to eat, very good food, really enjoy it every time I visit, i have only been for dinner, if going on weekends i recommend you book, ends up about $20 a person for a meal each to share plus rice. "Madalena´s has nearly got the concept right, but needs to focus its game to really compete with the best and its potential. We had pre-ordered the Chef´s Selection to provide Madalena´s an opportunity to showcase its food concept. The food experience was good, but not what a $80 pp. would warrant. However we were mainly let down by the service and the dessert. When it came to the service, we were served both the first and second course before our wine arrived and when I asked the waiter to slow down the food until we had got the bottle of wine we had ordered, she got visible a bit surprised and really did not engage with us after this. The first two courses, the scallops and snapper was well balanced, fresh and full of flavor, but the following confit leak was so stringy that we were not able to cut it with our knife and was rather tasteless. The prawns were well cooked and therefore had the potential to be a perfect dish, but had an overpowering taste from the grill (BBQ) and there did manly taste charcoal with a hint of prawn in the back. The dhufish, as the main dish, should have been a slightly larger serving and would have been elevated with another 30 seconds on the heat. Finishing of the evening with the desserts, we were served a lemon tart that was way too sweet, a panna cotta that looked fantastic but had no taste at all and a chocolate fondant that hit the mark. Surprisingly, Madalena´s do not serve espresso only filter coffee. So, was Madalena´s worth the visit? Sure, I would go back to Madalena´s, but the Chef´s Selection is definitely not worth the $80 pp. and rather pick and choose my own courses. A Chef´s Selection should be the chef´s opportunity to showcase what the chef and restaurant has to offer and that is what and why you pay $80 for the experience. This Chef´s Selection was mediocre and missing the wow factor compared to equivalent chef´s menu restaurants. And remember, order your bottle of wine before you order your meal, ensuring that you have your wine with your first course. "Table for 5, staff very friendly but it went down hill from there. The drinks menu looked like a redacted JFK file with so many items crossed out with a black marker. Items that were still on the drinks menu and requested were no longer available, maybe a reprint would be a good idea. We ordered bruschetta for entree, this was soggy and there was no basil or fresh herbs to be seen. Veal parmigiana was over cooked and the fries were luke warm and tasted like they had been reheated in a microwave. Mushroom risotto was tasteless and not a hint of wine could be smelt or tasted, it was also served on a flat plate which seemed so wrong. The worst dish was the Saltimbocca Alla Romana, this meal looked so unappetising, the vegetables had been boiled to within an inch of their lives and the mashed potato was so lumpy. Finally there was music playing in the background quite loudly which would have been fine if it hadn’t been heavy metal!!!! We could see the restaurant was doing a roaring trade in takeaway pizza which told us they must be good. So why was our restaurant meal of such a poor quality???"

"This place belongs to the family iannello, which until recently owned al dente in bicton. her new place in coogee has only been opened for a year. tonight I have my first order a margherita pizza (I have added basilikum to the standard toppings), cannelloni and garlic bread. all delicious, especially the garlic bread that was excellent. also supply them and the service is friendly and fast. so glad that I finally found somewhere near freo that makes and supplies delicious pizza!"
