"The Placa Major is clearly the place to eat in Banyoles, with lots going on all around. The Ataneum offered tapas priced on the length of the skewer, you collect up your skewers and paid at the end. We had a great time there, the tapas were excellent, as was the house wine. The serving staff were v friendly and helped out our v poor Spanish. Also there was a folk festival going on with bands at the back of the bar, adding to the atmosphere. This is definitely a great place for a casual meal soaking up the typical Catalonian evening vibe."

"Second time to Banyoles, and indeed this place. We ate in the restaurant, €22pp. Seems to have gone up in price but for that you get starter, main, desert, water and a bottle of wine. Excellent value for money when you see the quality of the food. For example my main was a seared tuna steak, lightly done and it was fresh and a good sized portion. The fact the place was full of mainly locals and families says it all. The staff were friendly and helpful despite being extremely busy. Great place, as long as you don’t mind being near the busy lakeside."
