"I came here while visiting Progreso by a cruise ship last week and overall had a good experience here. We wanted to have access to their chairs and shaded area on the beach in front of their restaurant. The waiter said all we needed to...do is order one beer or drink each, which we quickly agreed to. Plus the waiter occasionally brought over samples of food like shrimp empanadas and chips and salsa and some kind of fried corn thing everything was tasty. It wasn't clear if there was a charge for the food, but if there was, it wasn't much, because after spending a few hours on the beach and having at least 4 beers and a coke plus the food, the bill came to something like 17 bucks, so we tipped him well. As for inside the restaurant, it seemed to be pretty clean. The bathrooms were also clean, although I noticed that in the men's room the toilets didn't have toilet seats! Ha, glad I didn't need them! The other thing I should note is that we were not bothered at all by people coming up to us on the beach trying to sell us things. As soon as it was clear we were with this restaurant, we were left alone."

"The internet photo's are 40+ years old and must have gone thru a Revolution of sorts. We went for Bar B Q ribs all you can eat or not. Ordering anything else they said would take forever. They take your order not in any sequence, 3 tables that arrived after us all were served food/drinks well before us. This place is next to the Pier in Chicxulub and is dirty and nasty. The tables were wiped down last when they were new. The servers were busy and spoke enough English to be good. The streets are very dirty based, no blacktop, it is in the slums. It is disgusting to see the place and where it is located. The owner was English and cooks on a grill at the entrance, he is very welcoming and friendly. The clientele was Canadians, Brits, Yanks but NO Mexicans, that should have told us to leave but we stayed. The ribs were fair but cooked to fall off the bones, vegetables did not get me sick 3 days later so that was good. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME LOOKING FOR THIS PLACE. Drive extra 5km and go into Progreso."
