"We were pleasantly surprised on a recent visit after having some terrible local experiences. Inside is cool and comfortable, and the facilities satisfactorily clean... If a little cramped. The food was reasonable for the price and the menu had some interesting variations from the standard...chicken Piri Piri, grilled pork steak and bitoque. I am sure we will return for a standard meal out but wouldn't choose it for a special occasion."

"Ideal has improved over the past few years but again seems to be letting itself down at lunchtime. The food remains excellent but having just had lunch, the service was poor. Not the fault of the waiter who was running himself off his feet, but...that of the owner. There were probably people in for lunch and just one waiter, impossible task. It is a good place to eat but the staff levels need to improve"

"We took some friends for a meal and ended up here, so glad the meal was very nice, we don't speak Portuguese so muddled through, when we got our meal it was very nice and made fresh, it's nice for just coffee and cake or full or small meals, there are a couple of tables outside for smokers, but they are on the pavement, the road is relatively quiet so wouldn't cause a problem in my view, i would recommend you give it a try, it's a traditional family run cafe and not expensive either, with parking near by"

"The restaurant is in a very lovely setting with a view out to the sea. Sadly that’s where the good experience ends . Had a meal there this evening and have just experienced probably the worst service I have ever had . The waiting staff could not communicate the menu , take our orders correctly and failed to be able to provide a beverage list . I asked for a glass of wine and was given half a glass but none of the staff could tell me the cost . We had a very agreeable starter but the chips with our steak were cold/ hardly cooked . The waiter did not know who’s steak was who’s . When we queried the wine the restaurant staff had to get a receptionist from the hotel above to try to resolve our problems. When it came to the bill this was also incorrect the orders not having been taken correctly in the first instance . The staff were slow couldn’t understand any questions . What made this even worse is that the head waiter blamed his staff for being new and that he couldn’t recruit Portuguese staff. This was clearly not true as we have had meals in several restaurants in the town all with both excellent Portuguese staff and staff from other nationalities. In my view the head waiter was surly too and was just a bad boss that couldn’t hire . I felt sorry for his junior staff who were clearly struggling with no proper guidance . All in all there was nothing good to say about this restaurant and I would never go there again ."
