"The menu did not describe the dishes fully and was quite limited. Our starters were a disaster but the mains were tasty. We would have liked to be able to order some form of potato or greens with our steak. The ambience is terrible, but the staff very attentive. Overall a disappointing meal that was not value for money. We would not revisit."

"Great pizza and hummus/woodfired flatbread was delicious. Long wait for food and when I went to check on our order after 50 minutes they were just about to buzz us and apologised for delay saying they hadn’t realised they had the order. All good as we weren’t in a rush. Good value glasses of wine. Nice outdoor area."

"We dined at Esca on Saturday evening. We chose the 2 course A-la Carte menu for $60pp and I was a little dubious about it being worth the $60 but the dishes were just lovely. I had the vegetarian option of the mushroom gnocchi and the flavours were outstanding. It was a hard decision for me to go for the vegeterian option but my friend chose the bug tail which came with a melt in the mouth piece of smoked pork jowl which I got to try as well and that was delicious as well.....we both ordered the braised beef short rib and I have nothing bad to say about this dish either....it was divine!!"

"The setting and outlook is stunning whilst the staff were friendly, knowledgeable attentive. THE B.R.E.A.D with house churned butter and Shiraz salt was to DIE for. The other food highlights were the whiting the octopus. The steak was tender but slightly overcooked. Best value fine dining in the Hunter with the best view."

"The staff were very welcoming, table setting was modern, atmosphere was lovely, food was amazing... however, I needed my beef substituted but am not vegetarian. Staff assumed I was and placed a plate of roasted cauliflower in front on me for my main. I was a little disappointed as I was expecting another meat substitute chicken, fish, lamb etc.Overall, we had a great time at Esca and will definitely return"
