"This was by far the best dinner we have had all trip. Don't let the entrance to the restaurant scare you away. Climb the stairs and and go to the nice intimate restaurant on the second floor. The night we ate here was very light with customers so we had time to talk to the waitress. We started with a bottle of south Australian Cabernet that was just excellent. Then we dove into the main course. For me it was the smoked haggis stuffed chicken with vegetables. My wife had the Cajun chicken dish. It took about 20 minutes because the Scottish chef had to make them from scratch. Both of our dishes were excellent. Even my wife told me to rate hers as a five and she rarely says that. We finished by sharing a dish with three types of ice creams, all made specifically for this restaurant. One was Scotch whisky flavored and that one was truly unique. I'm not sure we can do better than this dinner on the rest of the trip."

"Celebrated a birthday on 16th June '23 and we were not disappointed. Service was very good and food was amazing. We must have been lucky, we phoned for a table just the night before and got one. The prices were great too! Thank you Will Gill for cooking such a lovely meal for me and my husband and thank you also to the lovely young waitress who worked her socks off in such intense heat! Food: 5"

"Would definitely recommend this place and would see how it has a “green menu” that includes several appetizers, nets and desserts that are vegan. Ordnete the Aubergine Curry, but unfortunately the part was very small, although it was a main. There were maybe 3 tablespoons of rice with the curry. In comparison, meat dishes served by other diners were perfectly large. Despite the small portions, the food seemed freshly cooked and was well seasoned."

"One of only a few places in Kirkcudbright that has a restaurant, which is sad really. The service is ok, the food is good, reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and tentative. The restaurant is at the back of the hotel, which could do with some decoration improvements. 7/10 Service: 4 Location: 4"

"My husband and I went as an anniversary treat,as the reviews looked great and the the room's looked lovely. The the room that we got looked nothing like the one's on the website. It was very basic and shabby (Not shabby chic )It was so disappointing. I think the staff were doing their best but it seemed understaffed. We won't be back."
