"Best fish and chips ever, apart from Mariners Wharf in Hout Bay, and Cape Town is too far away for a regular refill. The fish is cooked to order, crispy batter, flesh just flaking; chips also fresh, real potatoes. My neighbour and I share an order between us, being a couple of old ladies, but the men of the house settle down with determined expressions and contented noises."

"Really good food. freshly cooked and very good portions. the cod was fantastic. large pot with curry sauce. the meal could be made easy two decent meal times. the halloumi was really good. "A fairly basic pub menu, but priced at the top end. The decor and location are lovely and the service from the young staff was excellent. They have good indoor and outdoor space and are dog friendly. The food was good and well cooked and presented, but there is nothing particularly interesting about the menu choices or the portion sizes to justify twenty quid for a burger. 12.5% service was added automatically. Topping out at £50pp, with modest drinks and desserts, this felt expensive. Perhaps this is what it takes for a local pub to be sustainable these days, but on a Friday night our table was one of only a handful occupied. Good for a special occasion maybe, but not a regular event."

"Staff were friendly but service extremely slow. We had to wait nearly an hour for our starter, which was the wrong dish the first time it was brought out after 50 minutes. Think service may have been slow because there was a big party in adjacent room (very noisy . However, if they cannot cope with extra diners such as us, they should not take a booking for them, as it spoilt our experience. Decor is a bit run down and the menu cards have seen better days. Food was reasonably good, though we couldn't finish our mains as the starter was so enormous (maybe they gave us a large starter to make up for the long delay? Shame really because the place has the potential to be good."
