"After reading the telegraphs article on restaurants in chamonix we thought it sounded like one of the better options on the mountain. How mistaken we were. The food was below par and had no flavour. When I spoke to the waitress she began to argue with me and shout at me, saying that we were the first people ever to complain. The worst customer service I have ever received in a restaurant, and trying to cook food that the chef does not have the skill to pull off. I would strongly advise people not to go!!"

"Visited this place 3 days over a 10 day period, for lunch and afternoon coffee each day whilst with ski school. Owner was preoccupied with us all sitting together and all ordering at the same time, refusing to take orders when convenient for the customer, even when the rest of the cafe was literally empty. She got extremely upset by our presence rather than welcoming 10 new customers. By day 3, I decided to bring a packed lunch and sit in the car park rather than ensure her grumpiness again."

"I have passed this place quite a few times and always make a mental note to go back and eat so just before christmas 2015 my partner had a day off and the senility had a day off and I remembered Cafe de Balme and off we went .we arrived and the place was full (christmas and generally a busy place I guess) - anyway they found a spot for us sharing with another couple who turned out to be great fun. We ordered - I had a special dish of theirs, the Tomato tart tatin and it was good! I can't remember what my partner had for a starter but it was nice - Mains were Gigot of lamb and we all had that, it was good served with Dauphinoise potatoes and a light jus, simply presented and nice. My dessert was chestnut pannacotta and nice and the other had a raspberry soup thing in December which was very tart and not great at all - coffee was good as the house wine was very good! Very nice lunch for 20euro's per person in a unusual setting - whats not to like!"
