"August 2020, it is hot again. After strolling through St. Léon we look for a place for lunch. The terrace of restaurant de la Poste shows several empty tables. We enter. Then the big question: have you made a reservation ? Eh...... sorry, no. The waitress turns to her chef and .... we find a table. After a few minutes the waitress coms to the table for the menu-cards and what we would like to drink. Those drinks also arrive after a few minutes and we make a choice. As starter we have a delicious foie gras de canard. What else in the Dordogne ? After that a menu du chef . A three course meal of very sufficient portions. Ending wit an espresso. The terrace is really next to the road. So like many places in France: vehicles pass next to you. Strange enough: you smell nothing of them . A very nice place to have your lunch. If you go there: walk into the place: at the backside they have a tree-shadowed court. But we noticed it too late."

"Things started very well: the beer, rose and starters came out fine, all most enjoyable. However, things took a severe turn for the worse when the main course arrived. My girlfriend is Brazilian and likes her meat well-cooked. Her lamb was certainly slightly better done than is usual in France, but it also contained a nasty surprise, camouflaged in the dark sauce: a well-smoked cigarette butt, complete with cardboard roach/ filter. My girlfriend initially kept quiet, but when my brother noticed our disgust, marched into the kitchen with the plate demanding an explanation. The chef claimed it was "impossible" and suggested that the butt had been placed there by one of us. He offered us another plate of lamb which we accepted. The replacement was brought to the table by the manager (rather than the chef) who repeated indignantly that it was impossible that anyone had deliberately placed the butt there and that the reputation of the restaurant was beyond reproach. After the set menu desserts had been served, she reappeared to serve us all with free digestifs, mentioning that she now suspected someone on the staff. All in all, a real shame this. Not only because the food generally was good, but also because it tarnished the end of an otherwise great family holiday. I believe the butt was left there as an 'educational' message to those who don't like their lamb 'saignant.' I certainly hope such misplaced snobbery loses them custom."

"We had lunch in this restaurant three weeks ago, it was a happiness! very happy as a vegetarian to be able to choose a dish from the whole card. I ate one of the best pizzas I could taste. To the top! I strongly recommend that I be only sad that I could not have taken a dessert because I was already well filled thank you for your welcome and good continuation!"

"Good local cuisine. Professional reception but without too much heat.Very nice with view but not pleasant when the sun type a little too much. Oddly the parasols are between the tables and serve nothing. The tables are too tight while there is room to spread them. the result: if you are stuck to your neighbors and if those are super noisy and believe themselves alone, you spend a difficult evening. especially since the servers don't do anything to calm excited customers. We were four and had trouble getting along. short a good kitchen but a pretty bad service. You also have to arm yourself with patience to have a coffee and the bill while there is almost no one. Maybe we didn't get lucky tonight."
The large variety of coffee and tea specialties makes a visit to L'Auberge du Peyrol - Chez Janine even more worthwhile, the place serves however also dishes typical for Europe. "Staff member very rude! If you do decide to go, don't request anything that isn't on the menu. We did and it obviously caused them great problems and was told off and made to feel very uncomfortable! Won't be going back there!"

"Le Petit Leon is absolute delight - set in a pretty garden in the beautiful village of Saint Leon Sur Vezere the food is exquisite and never fails to disappoint, The is the 4th year running we have gone back to Le Petit Leon which is only open in July and August. There are two Menus one 25 one at 33 euros with reasonably priced wine list. I cannot fault this restaurant at all and can't wait to go back to try even more of the utterly delicious sounding Menu!"
