"A waitress is smiling and pleasant. The rest of the staff is just doing his job. Input frying is good; certain dishes are correct; the rest, not even passable. Little choice of vegetables for the wok. Meat and grilled fish are of good quality. In dessert, fresh fruit is good, otherwise everything is industrial, and no ice cream... The decoration is cold, like the reception. We'll see you next time from the other side of the road, when I go back to the competition!"

"We had dinner at this restaurant on an unseasonably wet and cool July evening so we were unable to eat al fresco in the courtyard, and it was here our sad tale began. The inside dining room is a very dull setting indeed. It looks...as if it was last decorated in the 90s with nasty wedding venue style table cloths, dreadful lighting and an overall old fashioned look that did not help create any of the ambiance expected in a restaurant with a good reputation. The chef/owner didn't introduce himself, or welcome us in any way that would be considered polite. He simply dragged a blackboard over and proceeded to take our order. I would describe his manner as abrupt and rushed. The food emerged surprisingly fast from the kitchen which gave us the impression it had been pre-cooked. We had a miserly prawn in very salty batter to start and a poached egg with lentils (a kind of egg soup . Neither of which dishes was particularly good. For our main course we chose fish (again a tiny fillet in a gloopy sauce and a filet de boeuf. The beef was reasonable but I struggled to cut mine (it was a little tough with the inadequate knife provided. Why no steak knives? For some strange reason we had to order dessert at the beginning (for the convenience of the chef? both of which were acceptable but had I ordered after my main (normal procedure I would have chosen something lighter. The wait staff did their best in a very fussy and unfriendly manner it seemed they were terrified of making a mistake. They presented zero personality. The owner/chef seems to spend most of his time lurking amongst the diners. He would be advised to get back in the kitchen and focus on improving the lack lustre food being dished out for quite expensive prices. In short, La Cour d'Eymet lacks atmosphere, is in need of refurbishment and modernisation and serves up food that can only be described as mediocre at best. There are NO vegetarian choices on the menu and the house wine (over 20 euros is available in supermarkets for less than 4."

"Great lunch, excellent service and very good value. We ate outside under cover but the inside also looks very good. Good and varied menu and only 130Euro's with tip for 4 people, including drinks/cocktails/wine."

"We visited here on the recommendation of a friend. The menu looked nice although the range of different set menus and prices was a bit excessive.Two of our party had the foie gras for a starter which was nice. The main course was very much a mixed bag. Two had steak which looked delicious and was supposedly very nice. I had the scallops with pasta, the scallops were over cooked and slightly chewy and the pasta was cold and rubbery, the dish had very little flavour. My partner ordered the duck but mistakingly was given cod, we told the waiter but given how long it had taken the mains to arrive he decided to stick with it. It was awful - burnt and dry. Possibly the worst cod I've tasted. My dad had the burger and had to return it as it was stone cold. None of the meals were particularly warm. Pudding was ok but again took an age to come out, by this point we were ready to leave. We were the only people sitting inside so I'm not sure what the hold up was. On top of that the service wasn't great, cutlery wasn't brought with the dishes and it was difficult to get their attention.With so many lovely restaurants in Eymet to choose from, we won't be returning here."

"I tried to post a review not long after my visit here but it was refused for some reason although I don’t know exactly why, never mind try number two! Just off the square and directly opposite the church in Eymet is La Bastide, the...last bastion of French cooking in the town. The restaurant is chic and modern and the food good quality, well-cooked, well-presented and reasonably priced and their house red is excellent, they deserve to be better frequented than they are. The waitress explained that very few local French people now eat anywhere in Eymet, just the ex-pats and visitors, the French go out the village to eat, and the ex-pats want the fast food to be found in the main square. My wife and I ate here on a Friday lunchtime and were one of just two couples in the place yet the pizza place in the main square was packed. I was told that they get no more than four or five covers in the evening and are liable to have to close if the winter season is poor again and that, to me, is tragic."
