"A shame that despite the undeniably fantastic location right on the canal, the Carp is let down by quality and speed. Some of the vegan options have been mediocre at best, and not cheap. Much better quality options for meat eaters, but thankfully friends in that group no longer suggest it due to the speed of service. Huge queues and waits are especially evident on sunny days. It’s a pity as it’s perfect for a walk along the canal."

"Eat at Apple Tree regularly for Sunday roast. So decided to try for Christmas Day! So glad we did, food was lovely! Staff were excellent and had good space between courses so didn’t get too full too quickly! A great experience. Thank you to all the staff who worked Christmas Day! Will definitely return next year."

"Here on a family holiday from the States with extended family. The staff is efficient and profession, the atmosphere relaxing and warmly supportive and the food solid. Andres, the food beverage manager reached out to help us in ways only a local could, outside his formal responsibility. Tom seemed be there every time I looked up ready to meet my groups needs. I highly recommend The Bull, and The Beeches, and I observe there a well developed, integral sense of guest care rarely seen in today's hotels and restaurants."

"Lucky Escape!!! Avoid at all costs. Came here for a late brunch, placed the order. Manager seemed quite welcoming but also not fussed at the same time. Was a bit awkward as she kept telling us what juices and smoothies they had! I hadn’t asked,...the plan was to have hot drinks. However we then decided to go for a fresh orange juice, whilst we waited for our food. The juice came within seconds of ordering, it must’ve been already squeezed considering the whole place was dead quiet! When I went to take a sip I noticed a few black and brown bits floating in the glass around the ice cubes. I left it for a few minutes, as I was really surprised for this level of service from Fego! Eventually I told one of the waitresses who was cleaning the side and showed her the black bits floating in the glass. She looked and offered to change it, so I said okay. Although personally I would’ve been happy if she had just handed me a spoon to remove it. I heard her tell her colleague word for word, where they then started whispering. After seconds they came back to me in quite a confrontational manner saying where’s the bits? So I said I just showed you, when I looked at the glass the ice cubes had been removed. So I said the bits were floating around the ice cubes, but the ice cubes are removed so maybe they’ve also come out. They then said oh we didn’t do anything, we didn’t remove anything. So I said where did the ice cubes go? And with a malicious smile they said “must’ve just melted” so I said in seconds? ice cubes melted? Yes it’s warm today but it’s not hot enough for ice cubes to melt. I was disgusted at their service, lying to me on my face. The food hadn’t come yet, so I said you can’t be telling me the ice cubes just disappeared. To which they said yes they must’ve. What disgusting service?!!!! At this point I had enough and got up to leave, to which the manager said “do you think we put something in it?” My main issue was, the absolute lies to my face!! I am not stupid, will not accept to be treated like a fool! Glad I got out in time and didn’t ruin my Sunday. Staff were absolutely queer in their behaviour. Disgusting people skills! Manager needn’t reply, can see from your replies to other customers you don’t appreciate feedback. Repulsive service."
