"We dined at Il focolare after hearing positive reviews from friends and also after viewing the Stanley Tucci discovering Italy show on CNN. The restaurant is high up in the mountains so we had to take a taxi to the restaurant. Locals told us we could also take bus #16 but we were running late. We were greeted by Sylvia, the oldest sibling of the family. We went with her recommendations for starting with the antipasto and white Ischian wine to accompany the rabbit alla ischitana. We loved everything we ate. The antipasto had many courses, one dish better than the next snd all were presented beautifully. The rabbit was delicious and we ordered the sliced fried potatoes as a side which soaked up the wine/ tomato sauce. Even though we were quite full we managed to eat the lemon cake. After dinner, Sylvia took us on a tour of the wine cellar and told us about the history of the restaurant and her family. She truly made our dining experience memorable. Please note that there is no wifi and my cell service didn’t work up in the mountains so luckily diners at another table their taxi home with us. I would suggest reserving your return taxi or asking Sylvia to order one for you. While in Ischia this is a must dinner experience. You will not be disappointed."
