Dropped in for lunch on the way home for the traditional Cornish pasty and vanilla slice. Was not disappointed. Service was good and despite tables inside, I elected to sit outside under the pine trees and savour the moment. Worth a stop for some good bakery products View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Ardrossan Bakery:
Since a couple of changes of ownership, this place has gone from "must visit" to "last resort". The cake shelves are 3/4 empty, and the tea room is only for eating takeaway from bags and paper cups. Whilst the service is friendly, the young men behind the counter seem a little out of their depth. We really miss the bakery from a few years ago. View all feedback.
Delicious range of pies and rolls. My spinach roll was lovely and my daughter loved the tuna Mornay pie
It would be better if the staff smiled.... they were impolite and not very engaging. The food was average but nothing remarkable. Improvements should be made in customer service.
Saturday afternoon in Ardrossan is not a time to feel peckish. Not very much is open at all. The choice was basically the bakery. Located on First St parking is street side and I would assume that, at peak periods, it could be hard to find. For the disabled, there is a ramp from street level to the entrance. lt was nearing the end of trading for the day and stock was low. The inside dining was closed off and was being slowly cleaned. lt was either take away or eat streetside. I chose the latter. The service was non interactive at all and I got the feeling to hurry up as he wanted to be out of there. I chose a Ned Kelly pie and a vanilla milkshake as it was a warm day. Taking my purchases, I sat at an outside table and noted that several of them still had dishes on them and had not cleared away for a while. Found a spot and sampled the milkshake which was of a good strength and very creamy. The pie was nearly hot as if the cabinets had been turned off and stock left for late sales. The topping of cheese and bacon was well balanced and crispy. The main meat and gravy was flavoursome and then the surprise. Ned Kelly pies always feature egg and in the middle of the pie was a whole hard boiled egg. Pastry was flaky and buttery. Enjoyable! As it was Australia Day long weekend, the bakery had taken initiative and utilized green and yellow in the cake icing and fillings. The products were good, but the service really off putting. Return? I would seek alternative eateries in Ardrossan and use the bakery as a last resort.
I stopped at this restaurant for lunch while driving along the coast. We didn't stay long, but we were able to get some delicious items and sit inside to eat. Unfortunately, my first choice was sold out, but I suppose that's to be expected at bakeries where they only make a limited quantity. I would definitely visit again.
You have to have something to eat from here as the pies etc are fantastic great food and excellent coffee
