"In Matsumoto a visit to Nawate (Frog Street) is a must. There are many quaint shops to visit, but when you are ready for a delightful eating experience…go to StoryHouse Cafe and Bar. The inside and outside are enchanting, but it is hard to see the inside from the outside, so make sure you go inside. The staff was super friendly. I ordered the pulled pork. This was the best pulled pork sandwich I ever had. The owner, Chris, came out to see how things were. I found out that the pork they use is all locally raised, and the bun was freshly baked by the owner. My latte was rich and so smooth. It went quite well with my meal. This place has an amazing community vibe. I will be staying in Matsumoto for a few months and can’t wait to attend more of there many events. Last night there was a jazz night which was the perfect chill time after a day of traveling. Tonight I’m going to check out their Irish night. I think I’ll try the Irish coffee."

"I have been touring Japan as a musician and very much doubted I would find anywhere vegan before my show in Nagano. The couple who own this place are so lovely, worldly and fluent in English. The man imparted loads of wisdom about the curry and culture and clearly cared a lot about the craft. We had a beautiful simple bean green curry but it was so filling and delicious especially with a side of pickles and added special spice mix and handmade hot chapati. The place is tiny! But super cosy and one of a kind!"

"Nice, old-fashioned atmosphere from Showa Period (this restaurant was opened back in 1933! . Pretty good Western-style food, as they call it in Japan. I recommend the omurice! Hambaagu/hamburger steak and pudding looked good too"

"Very unique coffee shop, lots of couples come here to take pictures in this cafe with a dapper and cute atmosphere. The omelet wasn’t really worth mentioning, but the ice cream and coffee were fantastic-be ready for a little sideshow when they bring out the sundae!"
