We are big fans of ice cream and have probably tried over countless places during our years of traveling. McCarthy's is definitely one of the best, with fantastic ice cream and an incredibly cool owner named Joanna. She is awesome and will gladly whip up whatever treat you're craving. This is a must-visit spot (at least twice) when you're in Ballybunion. Linda and Fred View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Mccarthy's Sundaes:
We popped in here to get some donuts as we heard amazing things about it. Coffee is good I think it's a nespresso machine that they use. We had the donuts with chocolate sauce they would have been better if we didn't have the sauce....The sauce had a texture of drinking chocolate and not a thick sauce I had in mind. Ice Cream is nice but a little on the expensive side. View all feedback.

I always enjoy visiting this restaurant for its fantastic ice cream and doughnuts topped with delicious chocolate sauce. The staff are consistently friendly and there is a wide variety of ice cream flavors to choose from. While the prices are on the higher side, the portions are always generous. I have yet to try the hot drinks here, but I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered.
The homemade ice cream is delicious and my daughter adores the freshly made doughnuts. The staff are all friendly and courteous. The shop is always clean and tidy.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. My 2-year-old son has a peanut allergy and carries an epipen. The waitress was extremely helpful and conscientious. She recommended the vanilla ice cream, but also double checked for any allergens. She opened a fresh batch and used clean utensils to ensure no contamination. It's often difficult for my son to enjoy treats when his two sisters are indulging, due to concerns about staff hygiene and potential allergen exposure. However, we were reassured by the staff's knowledge and attention to detail. The ice cream was delicious as well.
