Three floors stuffed with books and on the fourth, a friendly bright spot to enjoy an excellent cup of coffee, a sandwich or some pies or pastries - that about sums up the café at the University library in Basel. The prices are hard to beat at 2 francs for a fresh cup of coffee and a trifling 2.50 for a well-sized and nicely frothy cappuccino. During lunch hours (from about 11:30 to 2:00,) there's also a small but very appetising salad bar with fresh bread (inclusive,) a soup of the day and both a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian hot meal.And, thanks to being surrounded by windows, you benefit from a wide view and every last ray of the sun.
