"Three floors stuffed with books and on the fourth, a friendly bright spot to enjoy an excellent cup of coffee, a sandwich or some pies or pastries - that about sums up the café at the University library in Basel. The prices are hard to beat at 2 francs for a fresh cup of coffee and a trifling 2.50 for a well-sized and nicely frothy cappuccino. During lunch hours (from about 11:30 to 2:00,) there's also a small but very appetising salad bar with fresh bread (inclusive,) a soup of the day and both a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian hot meal.And, thanks to being surrounded by windows, you benefit from a wide view and every last ray of the sun."

"As I’ve never been to Switzerland, I have no idea whether this restaurant is “authentic “ or whether it primarily caters to tourists. While there seemed to be many other tourists dining with us, I thought the food was excellent. We both had cordon bleu and they were outstanding. The vegetable and spatzle sides were very good as well. Service was top notch. All in all, this was an outstanding place for our first dinner here. Highly recommend."

"Visited Del Mundo recently during our trip in Europe. While searching for the place to have a meal noticed Del Mundo as it is looks cozy from outside. And it really was so! Really friendly staff explained us their menu and had a small talk...as well, in English, which was important for us (we are not German/French speakers and had a difficulties with it before). We had soups and sandwiches, which were excellent. Our little daughter had a box of books to spend a time while our meal been prepared. The place is situated nearby the train station and may be visited even during the transit through Basel. It is always nice to leave crowdy train station and have a coffee in a quiet and cozy place. At the end we even got a bonus from the cafe staff but it will stay between us)"
