We stayed for two nights here. It is close to ski resort and they have an hourly shuttle. The room was clean, but there were no hair dryers in the room. There was live music in the bar, but the food options were limited. There were just a few waiters and almost no staff for many guests that were staying there. They left the room key in a envelope for us! View all feedback.
What Alan Williams doesn't like about Bear Valley Lodge:
Was good back in the day but definitely suffering from quite a bit of deferred maintenance at this point. It’s sadly the only place to go for a meal in the village so until it’s remodeled or replaced it’ll be the best we have. The food from the restaurants is very good, even surprisingly so View all feedback.
Can't say enough about the friendly very helpful staff here at the lodge. From the front desk to the bar tenders, wait staff. Store clerks and food staff. Rooms were comfortable. Views were absolutely beautiful. We were celebrating my nieces wedding. We couldn't have had a better time. loved every minute of our stay. Surrounded by love, good times and bear lodge was the absolute cherry on top of this celebration!
Did not stay here took a drive and stopped on the way. A run down ski lodge from the 60's or 70's. Not much to see or do.
Just spent 3 days here with my husband for a wedding. Everything was wonderful1 The staff was responsive and cheerful, the lodge was spotless and the food amazing. I loved our room! At night you could open the windows and hear the brook outside. The sky, the mountains – spectacular. I’m confused by the bad reviews. this place IS rustic, but clean and well run. If you want a high end pampered “spa” resort experience, go to Aruba. But really, this place is a gem. NO complaints at all and we have traveled extensively. Thanks BVL, for a great time!

The location is perfect but that's about it. The building and rooms are very outdated, and the rooms have VERY minimal amenities don't expect a coffee maker, hair drier, or anything other than beds and a TV.The operating hours of the desk and general store are such that you might never overlap with them. The restaurant/caffee/bar have days off, and you can't rely on what they tell you I called to ask and make sure there's a place to get breakfast, and it ended up never opening while we were there on weekdays. On weekends it can be noisy and you'll hear EVERYTHING going on in the main lounge or rooms around you. Bring ear plugs if you want to sleep.Overall I'd still stay there when want to be close to the slopes, but it's only ok if you come with very low expectations.See above
