Love coming here, staff are very friendly especially Kirsty, Alex and Sharon. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and offered some great suggestions! What Al Escape2 doesn't like about The Ship Inn:
Thought would give another go here. Bad choice, the roast dinner was rubbish not worth over £13 . Frozen peas, raw is carrot s, think the chef had used yesterday's warmed up roasties. Parsnip s and cabbage nice. Mash tasted like out of a packet. And the dinner arrived with gravy all over it, Yorkshire was ok. Do not waste your time! I sadly have to say that my experience was terrible. A few friends and I made a reservation for a festive feast and were excited for it. I ordered salmon and it was extremely salty to the point of being unpleasant, with very little food on the plate - just 3 potatoes, 3 carrots, 4 green beans, and a lumpy sauce. The dessert was no better, as the supposed blueberry tart was actually a currant tart that tasted odd. We left both meals uneaten and will not be returning for food. It's a shame because this restaurant is local to us. We were really disappointed as it put a damper on our evening.
Unfortunately this establishment has fallen from it's previously good food rating. I have been several times and have been flabbergasted by their continued improvements beyond their pelrevious excellence. But recently I was seriously disappointed, I ordered a rare steak and chips and was given leather and frozen beefeater style chips. Not great at all.
This was our first time taking our small baby out for lunch, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating - they even brought us hot water for the baby bottle. The lunch menu offered great value, and we both enjoyed the delicious Philly steak sandwiches. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant regularly.
I recently had a wonderful time catching up with friends at this restaurant. There were 10 of us in total and we had made a reservation. Our group ordered a variety of dishes from the lunch menu, but most of us ended up choosing the hunter's chicken. I also ordered the hunter's chicken and found it to be very delicious, generous in portion size, and reasonably priced. I was so impressed that I have already made plans to return next Tuesday for lunch with my husband and daughter. The staff were extremely friendly, polite, and helpful, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 in my book. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
