I still remember my father bring home fish and chips wrapped in newspaper from Golden. It was delicious then and I hoped was delicious now. But today the prices are high, the batter is thick, and the portions are modest. At best, this place is a once a year visit down memory lane. View all feedback.
The picture is of some other place, not this one. No seating at all, about 60 degrees, and dark...........should have left, duh. Paid $27 for two one piece halibut dinners, and both of us threw them out. Batter wasn't cooked, and halibut was very fishy tasting. Never again.

As a kid my parents would always get our FISH N CHIPS from "Cooks", the lil shack on Elgin. Years ago when my wife and I were dating I went by and it looked out of business..Maybe 4 years ago I went by and it was closed up...Fast forward to today, I stopped in after searching on line to see if it had reopened and it was now named "Golden Fish and Chips"...I remember another location in town years back called Golden Fish n Chips so thought I should take a drive to confirm this was the place in the little shack...I got there around 12:30 pm and had the Alaskan White Fish lunch deal - $5.95 for 1pc and fries with a coleslaw...The lady owner was very talkative and we chatted while she made the lunch, her husband and co-owner arrived as I was leaving and we stopped and talked before I drove off. I ate in my car, with a plastic fork and no drink as I was in a rush...But I will tell you this - the fish was perfectly cooked, the coleslaw was awesome and the fries were not frozen but actually cut up in house..I will be back for a family pack next week - 6pcs a family fry and large cole slaw for $24.90 tax in. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS...I know I have been guilty of not doing so enough...This place is now a regular on our family list!
I had lunch today at Golden Crisp Fish 'n Chips. I ordered a large slice of halibut and chips.
It depends on the day you go! Some days the fries are delicious and on point, some days it tastes like super old oil.
