"En route from London to Bruges by car, we disembarked the ferry at Dunkirk shortly after noon and wanted to have a nice lunch before the drive to Bruges. Googling restaurants near Dunkirk showed a number of sites (e.g., Michelin Guide, Trip Advisor) showing Le Soubise, and it was rated highly by all. So we stopped without reservations (pun intended) and were warmly greeted by the hostess who showed us to the last remaining table in the restaurant. Being presented with a menu in French we asked about an English language version and the response to that was the chef/owner came from the kitchen and charmingly explained the entire menu to us in English. We felt we were very special guests to deserve this attention, and enjoyed chatting with M. Hazebroucq throughout the meal. Everything was magnificent, from the fresh shucked oysters on half shell as an appetizer, through wonderful cod and chicken main courses, to the amazing dessert sampler, and then coffee accompanied by even more "dessert" in the form of petit fours. As a nice added touch, as we told them it was my birthday the next day, they created a lovely dessert plate with Happy Birthday (in French) written on the plate in chocolate! The restaurant is elegant but comfortable, and even wearing jeans we didn't feel out of place. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip!"

"The atmosphere, the music and the servants in this restaurant are perfectly consented. The month's menu was correct, beautiful and very delicious but unfortunately too small portions. This should still be working! The wine card isn't very extensive, but our two wines were a perfect choice. A rapist for everyone who wants to eat well in a pleasant frame, unfortunately, you can't be too hungry. So, really French kitchen!"
