Breakfasts were very good, well presented and well cooked with a very good choice on offer. The dinner menu choice was on the small side but dinners generally were excellent although something did go wrong with a starter. Prices were average for a hotel and the ambiance was a little lacking. View all feedback.
What Freddie the Fred doesn't like about Swallowtails:
Stayed at the hotel and booked dinner in the restaurant. HUGE disappointment. Game Terrine was dry and flavourless. Rump steak I ordered medium rate. Arrived cremated. Waitress took it away. Replacement arrived 10 minutes later also cremated. Menu said onion rings but received fried onions. Mandarin cheesecake and waitresses were the saving grace. Also had some **** store bought vinaigrette dressing on the poorly exe... View all feedback.
We went to this restaurant for Mother's Day hoping for a great experience, but we were disappointed. The starters were okay, with the salmon and prawns being nice but the bread being hard and overly salty. The slow-cooked pork was tough and the vegetables were weak. The stuffing was dry, the potatoes were not crispy, and the beef was overcooked. The staff even mistook the beef for lamb. The lack of proper glasses for water and wine was also noted. The turkey that my mum had was the only highlight. The Yorkshire pudding was rock hard. The pear and cardamom spice pudding was served with custard instead of white chocolate sauce as advertised. The cheesecake was average. There were too many options on the menu, suggesting that focusing on fewer dishes might improve the quality. Overall, we were disappointed despite being promised fantastic food and new ownership. It's unlikely that we will be returning.
Food very well presented and of good quality. Good choices from the menu. Good inexpensive wines to accompany
Broom hall is set in a lovely location, but the image is spoiled by the clutter that is dumped around the main entrance and hall way. A fairly decent G&T and a good selection of wines available by the glass at a slightly more reasonable price than most restaurants. We had pre booked our meals as it was a reasonably large group just two courses and coffee at a really good price. I had a steak and Ale pie which I really enjoyed followed by cheesecake which could of had a bit more berry taste,it was fantastically light though. Coffee was wet and warm but not great. We will definitely go again and have a starter as well next time.

A Lovely eclectic range of dishes and staff that do what they are paid for. Serve you at table. Brilliant place
