Mid-afternoon visit for drinks to this friendly pub catering for families, groups of friends and locals. Liked the range of real ales to choose from as well as standard pumped beers and enjoyable chilled wines for the ladies. Sports TV and pool table. View all feedback.

Two of us called into this pub for a drink. It was very noisy and half full with mainly elderly customers, most of whom were looking at international cricket on the pub TV. We ordered a glass of wine and a bottle of sparkling water. They were out of stock of the sparkling water and Soda water was offered instead. "The staff is very attentive and helpful and super nice. the kitchen staff make some delicious food, seriously can not mistake what is served, but they must have the waiter notes regarding what the customer does not want on their teller. that's really important. the wee is not very expensive a decent cab sav £21 ish. the desserts a warm cheesecake (taste like biscoff) with ice. first we were not sure how we never had warm cheesecake, but it works. a portion was great for both of us. If I could give you a advice, I'll give you a tear than a gift. I can't cry or eat kartoffels, but everything was either with pasta or with kartoffels, unless they wanted a light bite salad. I would have thrown it out instead of wasting food that I can't eat and eating only half a dish!"

"We had an enjoyable lunch at the 'spirits tasting ' event, the starter was particularly good. We were given a voucher as a gift and had not previously dined at Haywards. We enjoyed the fixed lunch menu and the presentation from Adam representing Essex Spirits. However, we would have preferred a wine tasting experience as we rarely drink spirits."
