The refreshment room opens early and is heated. They will make you what you want and specialise in hot food, which is important given how cold Ballarat gets. Hot chips (with and without gravy), pies, toasted sandwiches and more substantial things are offered with coffee and tea. The rooms are of an historic architecture as well. This part is free. What David W doesn't like about Ballarat Railway Station Refreshment Room:
Many many years ago this station restaurant used to provide breakfasts for passengers arriving from Adelaide on the overnight Overland train service. A once grand venue now offers a basic breakfast offering for the early bird train traveller. The staff were friendly and the coffee was very good. The restaurant has the potential to be grand.
