What User doesn't like about Great Northern:
This place was pretty inside and out. Had stunning views of the town, ferris wheel and the water. Outdoor outings would be great in the area but we had rain mostly and the indoor areas lacked, however the sauna and steam room were closed by the time we wanted to go in so we can't speak too much on those. The food was super disappointing (especially the breakfast) except the one curry dish. There were too many screami... View all feedback.
It was just good. Very old fashioned. Our stay was three nights b&b +plus dinner. The dinner was delicious but wheras the first evening there was a carafe of water and bread herb butter on the table the second night we had to ask for water and bread and butter. I asked a waitress what the soup and roast was and was told she didn't know!!! I am disabled and the TWO chairs that were brought to me the arms were broken. Bathroom window locked, old keys not suitable for me. Breakfast was slapdash. Food cold on the first morning. Not a great choice. Four Star how are ye!!!! The spa pool is not great, being disabled I asked to use the disabled changing. I was shown to a store cupboard!!!!! Mops, buckets, brushes, disinfectant, I was not able to use the handles in the wall or the shower!!!! Really upsetting. Also, you have to walk through their reception to gain access to the pool. I did complain and the Bar Manager sorted it out for outher users, he did emphasis that the spa was not part of the hotel.
Greatcsoup and sandwiches yesterday. Staff excellent.
Giving 4 stars because the staff were fab and the location was perfect however its not a 4 star property. The rooms and public areas havent seen a lick of paint since the 80's, room was cold (you have to request at reception for your radiator to be turned on which you only then get for a few hours before you have to ask again and they dont tell you this so you have to work it out for yourself), the shower was dreadful very weak water pressure, breakfast buffet had very little choice (sausages fried and scrambled egg swimming in water every morning). Its a cheerful setting through with lovely views and staff that cant do enough for you.
Maid for the golfing holiday. Food very good but not a lot of choice enlease you like veg soup.
Was there for a meal after a funeral. Beautiful hotel. Staff very nice and helpful. Was a wet and windy day so no nice views
