"The food is very good! However, we didn't get any actual bill and the server just told my husband that the sum had already added a 20% tip, without saying that she had added a tip table with two adults and a child, so that also not expected). My husband paid another 20% tip about it and we only realized later, as we were in a hurry to go as our annoyed toddler was already with me outside the restaurant. I have no problem with automatic satisfaction, although it should be clearly stated, or we would have received a postcode. Ends unintentionally pay like a 40% tip. "I want to give this place 4 stars because the service was good and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. That being said, I should have read the reviews. I tried Barb's breakfast sandwich and my total was around $17 including tip. I didn't get my sandwich until I was seated. I was disappointed with the size of the sandwich for the price I paid. It was a basic sandwich which included egg and avocado, and literally 3 chips. I'm not sure what their reason is to overprice such a sandwich. I hope they read their reviews, because for new customers, this can be very disappointing. That sandwich price is ridiculous. Maybe worth $7.95, but not $14.85. Cafe is cute though and I'm glad it's in the NW. Please reduce your prices for the sandwich or add an extra side to it, because I feel like I got robbed."

"Went for date w hubby because we were both craving ramen. Decided to get some appies (special roll tempura). Special roll caterpillar (asparagus, pumpkin, avocado, cucumber, mayo, crunch) had rancid 'crunch ' and was not worth $12. Noodles were overcooked in our ramen. Only one type of cold sake available (but it was very nice). Serving staff were over busy (altho polite) could not keep up with the 12 tables in dining section. Nobody came to address rancid food and still got charged for it. Waited 25 mins for bill that never came. We 've been here for sushi before, had a much better (altho expensive) experience last time."

"We came for the ramen however The sushi here is decent and generous sized.The Ramen broth needs a bit of work it’s missing something. So -1 star for that. It’s still tasty but somethings missing keep trying and it’ll be perfect!I’d come back for just the sushi honestly!"

"We were told about Costa Vida by some friends (that lived in Texas for a long time) about two years ago and it took us this long to get there. I wish we would have gone two years ago, it's amazing. This is my new go to Mexican place. It's as close to real Tex-mex I have had here in Calgary. Great flavors, with fresh ingredients. If you have kids go on a Monday as kids eat free (kids meal) with the purchase of one adult meal. Also get the Costa Vida app as you gain points quickly, which translates to free meals. Some people maybe thrown off by the restaurant style, but it's exact set up of most of my favourite places in Texas. So it's a cafeteria style system, walk up to the prep area, order your food and go down the line of toppings and ingredients that they add for you. While it might remind you of a sub shop, once you take the first bite, you will thank yourself for the experience, well at least I did.. I get the beef burrito everything I go, I really want to try something else, but fear it will not be as good, though everything looks really good. I find myself wanting to go every Monday."

"Pizza is just pizza right......wrong Mad rose wins the prize for the best. I hate Hawaiian pizza, but every other member of my family loves it. I'll eat the Hawaiian pizza here. I don't know what they do to it but it's delicious. Mad rose special and the cheese burger pizza are fabulous. I've been there for lunch and they always have a great special going on. I usually order the steak sandwich. $13 and you won't be disappointed. Friday and Saturday nights if your going there for supper be prepared to stand in line for a table at high times. Stay and wait though it's worth it"
