"When driving roads through beautiful river gorges in the Picos de Europa mountains of northern Spain, we regard finding decent restaurants a bonus, so when we saw a full car-park at lunch time at this restaurant we didn 't hesitate. Very local, and a 'take-it-or leave it 12 Euro, 3-course set menu with wine, water and coffees so great value. Except, it wasn 't 'take-it-or-leave it! ' When one of us didn 't fancy the (rather exotic and robust) local starter of clams and bean stew, the owner manager happily substituted an 'ensalata mixta ' (the classic default option for timid tourists). The main course of veal escalope and chips was nothing special, but again, very traditional and competent, especially washed down with a bottle of decent red (free, in our view, but worth the price of the meal in its own right). The boss didn 't speak English, but warmed to our few words of stumbling Spanish, and M got a congratulatory clap on the back when asking for 'dos cafes solos ' at the end. Great setting too- and judging by the photos on the wall, a regular salmon fishers ' hangout"

"This is a lovely restaurant hidden in a small and remote mountain valley. A very pleasant restaurant with friendly service and great tradtional food. Well worth the visit!"
