"El Molin de Mingo is a wonderful restaurant, but you need to seek it out. Nestled at the end of a forested track, surrounded by nature, this place isn’t in a position to attract passing trade, but it doesn’t need to. We ate a leisurely, late Sunday lunch there and it was packed with local families enjoying the same. Despite this, it didn’t feel crowded, just buzzing, in a laid back, friendly, relaxed kind of way. We were visiting a friend who has a house in Asturias, and fortunately he’d booked in advance as I doubt there would’ve been a table if we’d just dropped in. It’s clearly a destination restaurant and very, very popular... We ate a selection of small ‘tapas’ sized versions of the main menu for starters salt cod, bean stew, black pudding. All utterly delicious and served with a huge basket of local breads and a bowl of creamy, tangy cheese dip. Apparently El Molin is famous for its chicken and rice dish which has to be ordered by a minimum of two people). We shared a double portion between three of us and it was more than enough. Wow! What an assault on the taste buds. Inky dark with mushrooms and shot through with jewel red melt in the mouth peppers, the earthy aroma of saffron and paprika hit first, then the full, rich taste of the chicken, rice and their soupy juices, perfect for mopping up with the rustic bread left over from starters. Our friend said that several Michelin star chefs come here to eat this dish, and I’m not surprised. It is authentic, robust country cooking at its very best. We were too full for pudding, which was a shame as they looked and sounded divine. Great wine list too. If you find yourself anywhere near El Molin de Mingo, do seek it out, you won’t be disappointed."

"Last night we were having dinner because of all the references and recommendations, and the truth left us a lot to be desired, some croquettes all undone and that did not taste like ham.....a hake omelette...no comments and the only thing was the three leeks that we ate, so I imagine it will only be because of the cachopo... because coming out of there, a disaster...
