"Initiale is fantastic. The ambience not only looks but feels elegant and the service is impeccable with multiple waiters all very knowledgeable. To be treated on a first name basis by Rolande (the co-owner, wife of the chef and head of the floor) was amazing. She was as gracious as possible and made our anniversary dinner even more special. Last but not least the food is beyond good, the menu changes constantly and the passion and effort put into every dish is noticeable. Chef Lebrun mixes up a lot of French and Canadian ingredients to create masterpieces. A must in Quebec City!"

"I can really only speak to the coffee side of this place, but those words will be positive! It's just out of the hub of the tourist places, but not much of a walk - and anyway walking is good for you! The coffees are excellent. They have tables, chairs and other seating scattered round what is a quite small place. Staff were friendly, bi-lingual (if that matters) and efficient. I saw a selection of pastries but was only there for the coffee. As an Australian I am a total coffee snob and this place made the grade."

"This was our first visit to Battuto. This is a very small and friendly restaurant. We visited on a Friday evening so it was bustling and a bit noisy. The food, Italian inspired, was good and well-prepared. My husband had the vitello tomato as an entree and it was as good as any I've had anywhere else. I had squid on a lentil-based salad which was quite delicious. The lentil mixture in itself was the best part for me, I would have foregone the squid! The spaghetti alla chitarra and the gnocchi that followed were equally tasty. We skipped dessert, the wine was good and the price comparable to other restaurants of this caliber if you order of good bottle of wine."
