I was here as part of a coach party also as part of my hotel package the breakfast was the normal hotel buffet style which was the normal fare the staff were friendly and polite and quick to clear the empty plates and glasses. View all feedback.

What Deucalion doesn't like about First Floor:
Now known as the Urban Bar and Kitchen serving Bistronomy , which seems to be a made up name to inflate its idea of being somewhere to eat. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE. There is a good reason the menu is not on line. Small menu and they had 3 changes to the menu the night we attended, not acceptable for an eating establishment in a 4* hotel. "I've been here a few times. Very different from any other main power strip in Cardiff. The secret entrance and the exclusive Tsble service are all very cool. The staff is really friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The atmosphere is dark, atmospheric, interesting and cool with low light in the bar, candles and small lamps against dark walls and floor with many odds on the walls and quirky art decisions. Loading comfortable small chairs all furnished in small intimate groups, perfect for a date or a group of friends. The bar is something to see the selection of spirits, ingredients and finish touchs on the drinks is huge and of very high quality, this is a serious cocktail-knife choice! The menus are topics (currently dragons), the thought that has gone into every aspect of this experience is huge. You can ask for any cocktail you want or simply give them a theme or an idea and they make you a custom drink! Music volume is so perfect for a chat and there is usually a mixture of chilled eclectic music through the decades. Beverage prices are on the high side, but you buy the experience and exclusivity. Very good recomend, book a table on busy nights."

"This restaurant is wonderful. each individual who was ordered was delicious. the real Jewel was the duck (one of our party may not duck and even they claimed it was divine.) the owner is very friendly and talked to us about the preparation for the duck without being intrusive. it is easy to find good Chinese cuisine in cardiff, to find an excellent menu, although really opens their eyes and will be unforgettable."

"My partner and I decided to visit Kemis after being told by a family member that it was great. We stood in the doorway for around 10 minutes and were blatantly ignored until we had to approach them ourselves and ask if there was any availability. We were turned away due to a lack of tables. We took it lightly and thought we’d visit a second time the week after. The experience was almost exactly the same. Not approached and ignored. When we were finally spoken to, the member of staff approached us with a very unfriendly tone and just said ‘ we’re full’. No smile, no hello, nothing. As someone who works in hospitality it is terrible to see a cafe barely greeting customers or making effort to get them seated, makes everyone feel very unwelcome. For this reason, I always go somewhere else as I feel out of place. Very strange and unwelcome atmosphere. Shame, as the reviews for the food seem great, the front of house staff let this place down massively."
