What Elie Lebaillif doesn't like about Bistro West:
We arrived to find the place closed. Super disappointing. Not sure if OpenTable or the restaurant has the obligation to deal with this but I hope one steps up. Difficult to find a new place on a Friday night and OpenTable automatically marked us as dining so I was unable to use the app to make a new reservation. Not a great start to our trip and not a great endorsement for OpenTable. read more.

If you want to have a drink after work and hang out with friends, Bistro West from Carlsbad is a good bar, Inthemorning a delicious brunch is offered here. With fresh fish, meat, as well as beans and rice, here they also South American cook, and you can indulge in fine American meals like Burger or Barbecue.

"Wont accept cash and the owner has an absolutely bizarre reason why. Meat quality has also gone down and the store is verrry dirty and dusty, especially the ceiling. Used to love these guys and been coming for 20 years since the San Marcos location. Clean the shop and let us pay in cash."

"We love Mendocino Farms, always a good lunch spot, but lately there has been a considerable drop in quality.I do want to make it clear, we have not dined-in in a long while, this has all either been to-go delivery.We have a couple of usual items that we always order, the Superfood Ensalada and Curried Cous Cous. Both excellent items that have always been delicious.The salad, is awesome, good variety of textures with the crunchies, avocado, corn, etc. The dressing is also delicious and goes well with the salad. Seriously an all-time favorite salad for me.The curried cous cous is so good, spicy, yet creamy, such a good side to order when getting really anything from Mendo.I have also tried some soups, and the Pork Belly Banh Mi is also excellent.So, I wanted to share how much we love eating here before getting into the recent criticism.Lately, we have been getting our usual salad, and the proportions have just been off. One of the ingredients that they top the salad with is Cotija cheese, usually it's a small amount, used to complement the other flavors in the salad, last time we ordered it, it felt like someone was dusting out salad with the cheese, but the top fell off of the cheese container because it was super excessive.The other incident that happened was that we ordered some cous cous and it tasted like it went bad, very disappointed that we probably received an old item that was past it's shelf life.They are usually good, and I am hoping that these are some isolated incidents, but I think we will take a break from going here until they figure out these quality issues."
